Inceptionhosting - Great uptime, friendly support

Hey guys,
We all know how great Inceptionhosting services are, right!
I just want to share my short reviews about Ant services.

I have 18 VPS there. I bought most of them on Black Friday 2019, the rest on 2018.
Support, Performance, Uptime are great, nothing to complain cuz Ant done right.

05:28:32 up 79 days, 19:17, 2 users, load average: 0.01, 0.21, 0.44

I'm going to grab more this coming Black Friday!

no opinion on support because I never actually needed it, had brief tickets maybe with no issues.

vps itself just works well with zero hiccups :D

    I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.

Haha. This year I added a utilization% column to my vps spreadsheet.
The bottom tally shows how many $'s worth of unutilized resource is idling.

65% available is wayy better than my old 93%.
Plenty of headroom for spinning up ANY venture /project.

Available = available for idling, or available for use?

  • With a couple of 20 eur dedis in the picture, a large amount of unutilized ram is always a fixture. Vps are at 70% utilization though.

    Thanks.

If I was to self-critique my own services I would say, Issues exist from time to time but I am someone that actually genuinely cares about fixing them behind the scenes as soon as possible

IH is not pretending to be enterprise-grade and you can find a faster VPS without much effort but probably not as long term stable at the same price.

I understand the business is focused on the budget side of the market and believe with some effort you actually can get what you pay for without any drama.

Complaints and unhappy customers do exist, some justified, I did not write the software I use or design the hardware it runs on so sometimes shit happens, I always do my best though.

I actively dissuade a particular type of customer from buying/using services from inception hosting as I firmly believe that unchecked in this market segment 10% of your customers can harm the experience of the other 90% e.g. (hitleap and similar/ click bots/ get rich a penny at a time schemes/ please can I have 10TB BW on a 256mb VPS etc etc, you get the picture).

Never needed to use the support, but I did pickup a vm in UK with AntGoldfish couple of months back. Solid uptime, snappy when I needed (kinda like @AnthonySmith ) and no complaints what so ever!

    Spreadsheet!

I keep track of my boxes with DNS records.
Because of naming convention, I can have at most ten boxes simultaneously.

PLEASE NO, DON'T count them up.
Easy way to get all your servers IP's and do evil stuff.

    Give them unique random names.

I can't afford persistence use of dedicated machines. I limit to about $30 per year per box.
I do have access to dedicated machines for software benchmarking, but they are behind firewalls. Intel Cascade Lake, 256GB, 100Gbps network, be jealous.

You can ping my website and get the server IP anyway.

    and do evil stuff.

Evil stuff is already happening. Someone is probing my Asterisk server trying to make international calls. I changed the port number and they still came back.
My Asterisk server can only call my own phones, so they cannot succeed. However, logs are filling up my disk.

    Give them unique random names.

University computer lab has host names starting with h. I keep wondering whether harmful or harmless gets more users.

Do you want to get kids? I won't with these names.

@yoursunny Not one IP, all of them.
If you running websites, yes they get a few, logically.

But none needs to know all the IP's and you should not make it easy for someone to get them all.
If someone really wants to for example DDoS you because reasons, all of your shit gets targeted at once.

Because you delivered everything on a shiny table and please don't go and hide behind ShitFlare.

Oops. But my website has no controversial content, so why would anyone target me?
My phone number is public and my password is on the wrong green forum.

please don't go and hide behind ShitFlare

I use Cloudflare occasionally, when I don't want to deal with certificates.
