One year of NexusBytes

Alright, this review is long overdue. I've had my NexusBytes VPS for about a year now. I found a home with NexusBytes after an...interesting adventure with a certain runaway Doctor. I've been so happy with this box that I actually skipped most of the recent BF shenanigans. So, let's talk about it, shall we?

Service
I want to discuss this first because it's one of the things which I appreciate the most about NB. When I was first picking up service, I had a lot of needs. I wanted a beefy CPU, needed enough RAM, wanted fast storage, but all at a good price of course. Throughout the whole sales process I had a significant amount of communication with @seriesn. Every step of the way he was professional and personal, despite my incessant messages.

This didn't stop after I bought my VPS, either. There were some network issues nearly a year ago which we worked through together, and @seriesn put significant effort into making sure everything was resolved perfectly, communicating frequently throughout the whole process. I mean, look at this:

The dude is a legend. I also talk way too much.

Reliability
My VPS uptime is so high that I was worried my HetrixTools monitoring wasn't properly configured. I bought this VPS in a new location, so there were some initial kinks to work out. But after the first week of bringing things online, this has by far been the most stable VPS I've ever had. Like seriously, I believe I've only had one unexpected downtime during the whole year that I've owned this bad boy. It's always there. Always up. Working perfectly.

I'm on a shared node, but I haven't had any issues with bad neighbors. Not once. In fact, that's what I'd categorize this box as: incredibly stable. My ping, and disk speed is exactly the same or greater than when I first got the box. That's more than you can say for most providers out there. Performance has slightly dropped compared to the first week, but I also was on a fully empty node before, whereas now I'm sharing with neighbors.

If you're curious, check it out for yourself. Here's a bench from nearly a year ago, and here's one from recently.

Performance
So, let's talk about performance. I haven't ever owned any VPS this fast. NexusBytes was one of the first providers to heavily utilize Ryzen CPUs, which is why I was drawn to them in the first place. So what are the specs?

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X, 4 cores
RAM: 4GB
Disk: 40GB
Bandwidth: 4TB
Location: LA

This is a custom plan, so don't go looking for it. But it's brilliant. So I'm sure what you all really want to see is the bench, yeah?

Just give me the bench, dude
Fine, I know this is what you bench goblins were wanting anyways. Take it or leave it.

Closing thoughts
I'm a huge fan of being part of the NexusBytes family and I don't plan on leaving any time soon. It cured my VPS switching addiction. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

It don’t be like it is until it do.
