The drive speed is something that is pretty bad, I admit getting NVMe to perform well under Linux is something I have a hard time with. I only have these issues when using mdadm raid for some reason it seems like.

I did a clean install with the Debian 10 iso. (had used the standard template in the morning). Some improvement in disk I/O (bench.sh), sequential write speed (nench.sh), dd. Merely reporting the observations- I do not know enough to comment on the merits / reasons. Have updated the post as well.
