Vultr - India (Delhi)

Decided to spin up a couple of instances at VULTR and try one of their newer locations out - Delhi / India.
The network performance is SMOKIN HOT! The NVMe disk is no slouch either. CPUs are good, albeit shared. All in all, a GREAT deal IMO.

VM1: 1vCPU (AMD) / 1GB RAM / 25GB NVMe and 2TB Traffic @10GBit for $6/Mo

All in all, a GREAT deal IMO.

i.e. worth a try using one of the coupons that keep floating around ?

    Any idea if NOIDA = netmagic/NTT ?

quite interesting too to see the virtualization as Microsoft (Hyper-V?) rather than KVM too.

No idea mate. Could be anything from NTT to NetConneX or Yotta.

Ah yes, I forgot Vultr supported Windows VPSes too and yep, Windows does perform better on Hyper-V.

For some odd reason I thought they ran both types of host-nodes till now (ie, KVM and Hyper-V), but after looking up some previous Yabs from 2023 etc, it seems they've been on Hyper-V for a long time.

    SAAR DO NOT REEDEM!!!

on a serious note, great that Vultr has presence in such "exotic" region, its for sure not aimed at your ordinary Indian customers due to pricing, but for sure something worth considering to companies having presence/customers there.

thanks for sharing yabs, its for sure something I would consider If I needed anything in that region, Vultr is reliable, but sadly still doesn't provide a competitive DDoS mitigation capacity(Limited to 10Gbps on paid DDoS prot plan, which is a shame, I would be willing to pay more for larger capacity).

I did some searching and someone asked Vultr support about this. They still use KVM but enable HyperV enlightenments which makes it show as Microsoft. I believe the same happens if you select Windows OS option for a VM in Proxmox.

oh that's quite interesting, never knew that was available under KVM too, nice find!

Any idea if these HyperV enlightenments made a good enough difference under KVM ?

At most 5% difference in performance in my testing. One of the providers here reached out to me for performance benchmark testing.

Hyper-V supports PowerShell scripting so that is an added advantage from programming and automation, on the other hand there are bash scripts to build added layer of proxmox based automation tool

Refer to this QEMU documentation to enable Hyper-V Enlightenments on KVM.
