I barely use my phone to edit text, but when I do, I use QuickEdit Text Editor Pro. There are free and paid versions, non-Pro and Pro respectively. It works great so far.

I don't even like typing a normal text / chat message on my phone.

I can not imagine doing any meaningful text/code editing via mobile. Would drive me absolutely insane.

Notes app and Termius to copy-paste text is the way to go for me.

On the Nokia 3330 I used SMSs to write memos. They would remain in memory until reboot.

On my current 3.5" Samsung from 2010 I use T-Memo to store the debit card pin.

(the other phone with the battery hot-glued to it died 2 weeks ago, it's in boot loop now)
