UptimeRobot Free Plan now for non-commercial use only.
I was surprised to receive an email from UptimeRobot yesterday saying that the UptimeRobot Free Plan will be severely restricted. As I am already calculating below the break-even point, it is simply not possible for me to pay money for server uptime monitoring.
Email from UptimeRobot:
My question to you is, do you know of any alternatives I can use that are free?

theres a big thread on the OGF about this. HetrixTools seems to be the crowd favourite.
I had just switched and deleted HetrixTools when I got this email
Uptime Kuma is self-hosted and looks very pretty. Mike suggested it on Discord as I forgot all about it.
HetrixTools is prem. I just don't like the public status page look.

Will be interesting to see how they make the determination. I have an account from a 'kick the tyres' signup, monitoring personal stuff but with a couple of commercial sites [not mine] thrown into the spare slots 'because'. Could just delete the grey area ones, but will be more interesting to see...
Among the free options I use/have used are HetrixTools, StatusCake, FreshPing, Montastic. Naturally each has some drawbacks so that there's a reason for people to upgrade to the paid plan.
I had already started moving stuff away from Uptime Robot because their email notifications don't get through an unacceptable percentage of the time, and they've been progressively restricting other notification methods on the free plan. That is, you used to get multiple email addresses and webhooks, but no longer. I had my account since they started it as a side project, guessing they might be aiming to sell it soonish (pure speculation).
