AI-powered search

Anybody got any good results on ways to integrate search?Finding myself leaning more & more on online AIs because LLM+Search is better for most of my tech research than either search or LLM separately.
So far Brave API and SearXNG seem like best candidates but haven't actually found time to try it yet. SearXNG I'm pretty sure I'd need to stick on a VPS...cause I heard it fucks up the IP you're on. Not in usual IP rep sense as LES understands it. Google sees the automated search traffic and thus gives you grief on your own casual browsing, logs you out of gmail etc.
I just use several sources - depending on the particular query:
Google search
Yandex search
ChatGPT
DeepSeek
Bing (when all else fails)
Regarding those AI-searches, I tried ChatGPT and it is basically like using Bing directly - only the "robot" regurgitates it (so like most other Bing-reliant search engines).

Sorry if I derailed your AI+documents a bit there..
To clarify I'm looking for local AI, but one that benefits from doing a search to integrate info and ideally add links. e.g. This piece of LLM response contains links to huggingface
I think the answer lies somewhere in MCP space but haven't figured out how to do this yet
Not my problem - but anyone trying to find info in the future might get stuck.
First comes to mind - the tools at hand (when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail LOL):
AnythingLLM:
Workspace settings -> Agent configuration -> Configure Agent Skills -> Web Search
Live web search and browsing:
Enable your agent to search the web to answer your questions by connecting to a web-search (SERP) provider. Web search during agent sessions will not work until this is set up.
That should be possible to connect with Brave API or something othe non-google?
Haven't tried it - and hope someone else might chime in.
For me, I did not want search and links to "enter" my local AI.
That would be on the edge of beating the point.
I can add info that is personally curated.
For the rest - there's ChatGPT and the likes.
Not saying that's the right thing to do - just my thoughts on that at this time.

I use Perplexity AI for AI enhanced search. It's pretty good and saves me quite a lot of time compared to regular search. There is one even better, Felo.ai, but I use Perplexity because there is a handy app for macOS, so I can start a search quickly with a keyboard shortcut.

I see google open sourced a deep-research type tool.
https://github.com/google-gemini/gemini-fullstack-langgraph-quickstart
I can get it to launch...type in prompt and it seem to be doing something but then stops. idk
Never heard of this one - since i use perplexity a lot and like the concept, can you explain whats better about felo?
It produces better, more in depth results, like proper research, and also handles multilingual sources while Perplexity only handles English.

That word: "research" - it used to mean something.

True. I was skeptical in the beginning to be honest, until I saw how much time these tools can actually save.

Saw this on my X feed... have been following the murena project (by former lead developer Gael Duval of Mandrake Linux Fame)
https://spot.ecloud.global/
"Spot is a fork of searxng which is a metasearch engine, aggregating the results of other search engines while not storing information about its users."
Not AI per se, but something hybrid I suppose ? Can the learned and the wise shed light?
