It's a friendly, international project. It's not a commercial project -- and it's a short term giveaway so no financial transactions are involved between the project and the users. The server is in the US so I imagine that US law applies. That's all I know. I hope it helps! Best wishes!

Using this server for a week suggests that the machine and the IPv4 network are stable. It's neither the latest shiny thing nor the fastest. But it seems okay.

Nevertheless, we haven't seen much interest in this free offer. Therefore @fmxm and I have decided to drop the limitation to students and also drop the need for ID verification.

Instead, we might make the free VPSes available to long-term, active, and helpful forum members.

So, would anyone who is a long-term, active, and helpful forum member want to be considered for one of the free VPSes? If yes, please post here. Please share specific details about what you want to run on your VPS. Thanks!

All the VMs are assigned. But something might become available for inactivity or for another reason.

I have Apache, PHP, MariaDB, and FOSSBilling installed on my VPS. I need to learn a little more about the configuration before everything might work. We will see.

Special thanks to @fmxm and @babywhale for enabling ten people's VPS projects!

Please note that the student requirement has been retracted.

Thanks to @fmxm for donating this nice server node!

If I understand right, the LA servers was renewed this morning. Th expiration date now is October 10, 2025, and the server is not expected to be further renewed.

We still have one dedicated IPv4 VPS available.

The for students condition has been retracted.

    Best wishes!

I've had tons of fun making my first PHP project, a simple, basic PHP login page and a page to export the output of top!

This on the test VPS at the @fmxm LA node.

My project seems to work! But there might be some security issues, so the firewall locks it down to one IP.

Soon I hope to try the same in Javascript, which will be my first Javascript project.

Probably not too many people would be interested in the code for these baby projects, but I want to set up a self-hosted version control web interface, maybe cgit.

Thanks to @fmxm, @Alexhostcom, and Onlyservers for their lovely server node donations!

Want a free VPS? Please check the available inventory at FOSSVPS.org!
