    how to create a link in html

    This has been previously stated by VirMach to be a billing panel bug. Although I have never before seen, or heard about one for a service migration. I have a free VM service that I, and others, won in October 2022 that bills me $0 a month. I always keep some account credit in my account and this bill gets auto paid by account credit each month. This is my attempt to work around the bug so it does not cancel my free service. I don't know if that will help you, it's just how it works for me.

    I am currently traveling in mostly remote areas until sometime in April 2024. Consequently DM's sent to me will go unanswered during this time.

    I agree, as I believe @Virmach does, that having more staff would be a Good Thing (tm). He's stated before he has tried/is trying to hire additional people but has been hampered by a number of factors including finding help during a pandemic, onboarding taking time away from his current productivity level, etc...

    I think @VirMach needs to consider that having fewer staff hampers his productivity in the long wrong. At VirMach's current size, his staff isn't going to be negotiating with data centers for colocation space or purchasing thousands of dollars worth of new servers. But as long as VirMach himself is answering L1 tickets, he isn't doing those negotiations, either. Don't get me wrong, when the urinal is backed up someone needs to fix it, and it's really good he is a hands on owner trying to fix these issues. At the same time, he is limiting his own growth in the long run by not wanting to reduce short term productivity to onboard new techs.

    And the fact that people often don't actually read the status page ... so they make tickets.
    I think daily might be excessive since some of these projects take time but a little more frequent updates so people don't think they've been forgotten would be welcome. This of course assumes that people will actually read the status page and stop making tickets which I do no believe will pan out.

    The last update on the NYC nodes was in mid-May saying they had received the servers from the data center. No new updates have been posted (that I've seen). So, there could be improvements in VirMach's communication.

    EDIT: Personally I hope that someday @VirMach will stop accepting tickets from "specials" and only do support for "specials" via a VirMach forum like some nat providers do. This, I expect, would greatly reduce the ticket peaks, improving customer service for regular paying customers, and could be handled by one person.

    If he really did that, then I hope he or his support team would be more active in the forums.

    IMHO It would need to be a support person who could actually fix issues and respond with accurate information pretty much on a daily basis for it to work. I do not expect this to happen, I was just offering a personal opinion.

    Wise indeed. It is my utter pleasure to bump up VirmAch thread during slacking off.

    These 'moans' reminds me same thing happen few weeks /months ago.

    No one cares but now, this becomes everyone problem. Good luck to everyone.

  • @FrankZ said: You still having that can't find the boot disk problem with your TYOC005 VM ? Or is this a new issue ?

    yes, same issue, but apparently, it was fixed early today. finally after waiting for 3 weeks.
    but I still hoping that Virmach could improve their support. i know that special offers come with no support but when the issue is related to the service itself, the customer still deserves to get some support.

    is it common to see "Boot failed: Could not read the boot disk" on TPAZ003?

    My previous comments related to this issue are below. For rkzed it took about three weeks to be corrected, although that was about a week longer than normal.

    does anyone on node TYOC005 have same issue with me? the disk is missing (undetected?) from VPS.

    If it shows something like "No boot device available" in VNC, do not reinstall the operating system. This thing has happened to me before. It will get fixed automatically by VirMach if you do not reinstall, otherwise IIRC it needs to be fixed manually which takes longer.

    @FrankZ, does reinstall the VPS will automagically fix the missing disk issue?
    my VPS has been down for a week and I can't do anything from my end :(

    No, I don't think you should do that. I expect that will only create more issues.
    As I understand it, the LVM (virtual disk) assigned to your VM has stopped being seen by the hypervisor. An analogy would be when a disk drops off on a dedicated server. I think you can see why reinstalling would probably not resolve the issue. Hope for a node reboot.

    Glad to see this was finally fixed for you. IMO you're right when you say that customers still deserve to get some support when a VM is down. I think the point that I was trying to make is that VirMach is constantly doing support and resolving issues. It is just that the lower priority on a "specials" ticket can cause a much longer delay than most folks are willing to accept when VirMach is overloaded with tickets or issues. The VirMach guy himself appears to be extremely dedicated to trying to make it work.

    As of today, it has been like this for more than 2 months. @VirMach why it is taking so long?

    After I manually restarted, the service on TYOC029 is offline, and VNC cannot be connected. Please take the time to help me solve it, thank you boss

    The node TYOC029 is not offline. It would be helpful for you to add more information.

    Looks like ATLZ005, ATLZ007B, ATLZ009, and ATLZ010 are having network issues. ATLZ006 is the only ATL node that still seems to be connected to the web. From the outside it looks similar to when Chicago got null routed. One can only hope it will come back faster than Chicago did. :(

    And just so nobody thinks I am immune to the "No boot device available" issue I woke up today showing one down for this reason on LAXA031 ID: 689696. I'm just going to wait it out and see how long it takes to resolve on it's own.

  • Could someone help me with virmach ipv6 addresses ?
    In CP it shows (Xs to mask actual address - I hope).

    IP Addresses 213.232.112.XXX, 2a03:d9c1:700::ecXX:49a, 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::aed3
    IPv6 Subnets 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::/48

    So can I choose any address in the subnet and allocate it to a container e.g. 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::1234/48 and if so what should the gateway address be ?
    Or have i misunderstood everything (including what is 2a03:d9c1:700::ecXX:49a ?

    Thanks

  • edited June 2023

    Setup IPv6 addresses in SolusVM and use network configuration button. Even if you use some other interface instead of eth0 you will see at least setup and then just edit the interface to ens3 or whatever you use.
    Whole /48 is yours, so yes, you can set up any address from your /48.

    You may find that the single address needs to be added as the primary IPv6 address as it is related to the IPv6 gateway. You can setup any of the /48 addresses as secondary addresses. An example is below.

    IPV6_DEFAULTGW= 2a03:d9c1:700:0000:0000:0000:0000:0001
    IPV6ADDR=2a03:d9c1:700::ecXX:49a, 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::aed3/40
    IPV6ADDR_SECONDARIES="2a03:d9c1:a7XX::1/48 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::2/48 2a03:d9c1:a7XX::3/48"

    Replace "1", "2", "3" at the end of each IPV6ADDR_SECONDARIES address with whatever you need.

    I have a VPS on ATLZ006 and ATLZ009, 9 is unreachable from the outside, 6 is reachable, and it can also connect to 9 from 6. so it seems they have been null routed for sure, I wonder who downloaded a 10GB iso file at speeds greater than 100mbps this time to trigger it.

  • Slightly off topic, how would you throttle a download if it's via http/https to keep it under a certain speed?

    kill -STOP < pid >

    wait a while

    kill -CONT < pid >

    Repeat as necessary to achieve the necessary average speed. :)

    TYOC029 node is indeed online, only mine is offline

    VPS Control Panel does not see Disk Usage

    The cause is that I restarted the VPS on the panel, maybe my mouse problem caused multiple clicks? i don't know the exact reason

    I tried to start, shut down, restart, network repair, reinstall the system and still can't go online

  • FrankZFrankZ Moderator

    @newlan - I've had this happen before, although I am not sure why it happens. I had reinstalled the VM and shut it down. Then went back to set up the new install a couple of days later and it would not start. I tried to start it each day from the control panel and on the 11th day it started. It did not start up itself. I have no advise to offer on how to get it started quicker.
