No my friend, you are doing a fine job,

Doesn't look like it - LOL.
    :)

No hard feelings, but I think resignation is a proper ethical act, when the community you serve is not happy with the job you're doing.

FWIW I hope you reconsider; don't take a few squeaky wheels as speaking for "the community", we're better off with you than without!

    To clarify:

It's no PMS, nor getting butthurt by any comment or user in particular.
    No LESbian is to blame.
I can say publicly that I have no ill feelings towards LESbians who've criticised (or praised my work for that matter) - quite the contrary, love & respect.
It's just a general feeling that it would be wise to quit.
    Like Jürgen Klopp. :)

As a pro-cagie I'm speaking as true as I can to your kind: stay

Hell, I even read your blog and internally you were next on our bribecontent creator list . You do a sincerely fantastic job here. I know the burn, feeling some myself. Luckily a there is a fantastic team internally to pick up some slack and/or listen to my whining.

If you abandon us may many Powerstroke diesels roll coal on you for eternity.

    To stress this again:
It's no fault of any LESbian, mod or admin.
I must also say that LESbians have helped tremendously with the moderation - couldn't have done it without the DMs, flags - literally thousands of such heads up for everything that a mod/admin might miss over the years.
    Great community, great support.

Now, for an explanation (I may not have to explain, but I think it is fair and humane to do so):

I had hung up my mod/admin boots at Hosting Forums in may and tried to focus on LES (and the BikeGremlin forum, of course - LOL).
The latter actually helping me save some time (serving as a YouTube and website Q&A portal basically - though I did make an IT forum section :) ).

Years before that, I stopped working in my bike shop every day, in order to get more time with my family (the bike shop was never about money, just about helping people - and nowadays I only serve family, friends, and neighbours from the building my shop is at - the folks I would serve for free anyway :) ).

Despite having reduced some "load", I still had a feeling that (with all the other balls I have in the air these years) it's beginning to wear me out, and that it might be a good idea to quit before it starts feeling like a choire, before I stop doing a good job - and before I turn into one of those mods that I don't like. 🙂

I've never worked at a job where I got fired (and where they didn't want me back when I changed jobs), and I try to keep it that way and make things a bit better than they were before I came - wherever I go. In order to do that, it is important to be self-critical and realize when you start leaning towards slacking off (like in 5-a-side football - when you start feeling tired, it's too late for a substitution, you are wasted for the match - a good coach will pull you out while you're still feeling frustrated for being put on the bench for a few minutes :) ).

That would be some rationalization. Humans tend to do that and fool themselves. :) Trying to analyze deeper: it's mostly a gut feeling. Over the years, I've learned to listen to that, and it usually ends badly when I ignore it.

Having said that, I'm happy to stay while the new mods get the hang of it - wouldn't want to leave anyone stranded. A week, or a month (or longer).
Normally, I would have insisted on writing some tutorials and guidelines, but the admin/mod team worked like Barcelona's midfield in Xavi's time, with the same idea and great understanding, so that seamed pointless to do. :)

    P.S.
Good football teams change coaches and players when they start performing poorly.
Great football teams change coaches and players before they start performing poorly. :)

Make LES great again (couldn't resist, the guy is all over all the news, even in Serbia - LOL)!

    EDIT:
Inserted the relevant links for clarity (as that joke says: "This is the kind of shit I need the paper for!" :) ).

All right here is my two quid on the matter, on one hand we don't want a heavy handed mod team around here. Part of the culture is being able to say and do things we can't in other places. If the team steps in and smacks around a host even if the host's performance is shit then we are no better then the OGF.

Now no one is stopping anyone from posting that the performance is shit, nor making reviews stating it is shit. At some point people have to be accountable for themselves and if they don't research what they buy then that is on them.

I myself have asked for reviews here and people answer so that I may make an informed decision of where my dollar goes and who it supports. If more people did this then hosts like this would not have a place to make money.

Again my two quid on the matter do with it what you will.

Exactly. We’ve got Rocky & Knuckles when we need a heavy hand friendly reminder: late membersip fee payments and similar.

No what it means is take some responsibility for yourself and stop expecting someone to create a safe space for you. The world is not safe get used to it.

This is not LET/LET and never will be if I have a say in it. The team will not spoon feed anyone and should not do it even if some want it.

Did you get service? If yes, leave it there and if it is not acceptable write reviews, post on threads and do what needs to be done. Vote with your wallet and this kind of host will not thrive.

If you do not recieve a service that is another matter entirely and will be treated differently.

I appreciated the LES rule with the nanny state comparison. I have a feeling you too may have read some political theory perhaps. I have a shelf of unorthodox authors whose names is probably safer not to mention eheh :) These things look so nice to people on the surface, but deeper and under, most would get outraged if they understood what they mean. I too had a lot of fan partying at the plebiscites on LET... they were cool for us folks! (and pragmatic)

@bikegremlin: I see. I went thru a years-long stage when I was noting but disappointed that so few people could appreciate these principles of individualism and autonomy, and so many would defend the opposite. I would spend time explaining my view, converting people one at a time, an hour or more dedicated to each, I was good at that, but in the meantime the big-pockets media were unraveling those little results on a mass-production scale, exploiting the same trivial paradigm over and over: putting a pressing moral issue on the pedestal, so intolerable or unjust that society needs to act upon it at once, and whose resolution is only concerned in the monetary flows that it causes behind the scenes. My disappointment then turned into a depression stage when I realized that this delusional self-submission to collectivism is an immutable property of human nature, that is also found in rudimentary form in chimpanzees. I read Jane Goodall only to give an answer to the question of wether "redoing" humanity from scratch would yield a different outcome. Paradoxically in my early 20s I was a commie reading heaps of newspapers at the library every day, for free, they were all so soothing to my taste... later on I understood why "information" must be subsidized =)

Edit: did a bunch of edits... now it's perfect!
