Plus, where’s the fun in mailing ?
Of course, if the Yeti man would push them inside a glass bottle with a cork cap and leave it in the sea…then we would be talking. Maybe add a gps tracker FFS
860 EVO has served me well (still going strong).
Haven't tried the 870 EVO.
Went the M.2 NVMe route after the 860.
I have just a slot for 2.5' SSD, and the drive needs to be from Amazon.de :-D
M.2 slot is already with new nvme in it.
too bad I have two 1tb in the U.S. could have been coerced into getting rid of one of them.
Would mailing not be practical?
Hooked @imok up with one earlier in the year. Guess he is running in a Dedi in Texas. That is where I shipped it off to anyways. @bikegremlin shipping would negate anything he would save just buying it there especially if you count time and paperwork. I don't mind doing it on bigger orders and can cut costs but for one or two things not worth it for the clients.
Based on the announcing that this is the last lifetime, and without any discounts, I am not sure, but am tempted.
This seems to work fine as cold storage - not very good for other use cases.
Unlike Pcloud, they don't sell lifetime deals only, apparently, so they might stay in the market longer - we'll see.

Thanks for the tag, mate I, however, actually have enough cloud storage these days
Using pCloud as my daily driver (quite happy with it; btw they actually do sell subscriptions, not just lifetime, but most ppl get lifetime), where I have 2,5TB storage (about 400GB used). Also got Koofr 1TB lifetime (900GB/1TB used; mostly cold storage and secondary image sync from smartphone to not make pCloud the only photo sync to rely on. Internxt lifetime 2TB (kinda idling, but used about 600GB for cold storage). Might look into using Internxt rclone sometime.
I have heard good things about Filen, but also read about ppl having problems on Reddit. Not really tempted to jump on it atm, but it might be a good pick regardless
Cheers, and have a great week, mate! Thanks for thinking of me

I've been testing it for a few months.
Haven't had problems for what I use it: storage of data.
I could even browse photos via phone - directly from the app, but I hardly ever need that (and pcloud is a lot better for that).
This looks like a decent cold storage option if you just upload/download from a PC.
Not ideal, of course, but alternatives have their downsides too.

Ah, good to know. Yeah, I'm storing some encrypted cold storage backups (rather large backups) on Internxt as I haven't really found another good use case for it. Regarding pCloud, they have a "Photos Beta" Feature in the browser now. Did you already check that one out? Not many features right now, but looking forward to further improvements on pCloud's side when it comes to photos.

Photos work fine on browser and phone.
My main use for Pcloud is sharing photos with family.
Pcloud encrypted "Crypto folder" is slow - seems like it's throttled, since encryption happens on my browser, with a good PC and fast connection (Filen is also encrypted and uploads are a lot faster).
Of course, the vault is also separate from other stuff so "photos" won't work for stuff in the "crypto folder."
I like that Filen uses the correct term "directory" instead of the rubbish marketing "folder."
dunno, suddenly have this itch... need a high power CPU (i7-6700 equivalent or better), high RAM (32GB?) VPS to use as a build machine. 100G is probably okay for storage.
Probably won't get it in the low end market unless I go for a dedi, in that case I'll just get one for my homelab.

I want a cheap dedicated server in the east coast, but I doubt I'll ever find it.
My current dedicated server is a cheapo Intel i5 750 cpu with 8GB of RAM and 100mbps network, but the price is only $140 per year... I mainly use the 1TB HDD as my offshore backup. This is my only backup if my house burn down, as the rest of the backups are all in my home... So I need another one...
It’s OK if you disagree with me. I can’t force you to be right!
IPv4: 32 bits of stress. IPv6: 128 bits of... well, more stress... Have anyone seen my subnet?

noackhosting have this on 7 dollar already and there is coupons for cheaper. We do even have offer 15$ /year if you look around

On the east coast. Cheap and good enough ping from my location. Since it's used as backup, dont care for anything else.
I am looking at https://oneprovider.com/en/promotion
They seem to have some good promo. I may or may not have snagged one of their Los Angeles "Xeon E3-1230 v2" servers...

Will you offer "very very good deals"? Or you hope to grab "very very good deals"? This can make the difference between a scared wallet and a relaxed one.
