We use Juniper. The reasoning being they were the most affordable at the time & we were somewhat familiar with Juneos. The provider we use wants to use Arista as they're more familiar and confident with them.

SolusVM doesn't work well with it. They've tried and failed to create a fully functional template for it, and we're also running into problems. They've said it's a confirmed issue with templating on the operating system our host nodes run on (standard.) I've probably created several dozen templates that all end up having some strange issue.
What I'm going to try to do next is take their template and then fix it but I'd prefer not to do that since I don't know what other problems it may have...

Not that I know of, it seems like the most likely outcome is all my fiddling did something but only after I was frustrated and went to sleep. Then it magically decided to fix itself. Well, not that magical, what I was doing was supposed to have a positive effect so I guess it did but I don't really want to take the credit because I still don't really understand it much. Just very light educated guesses that wouldn't make it worse trying to get the communication between the switches to re-attempt and stick. I still take zero credit for anything that happened.
I haven't got a solid confirmation on whether or not anything was done on their end but it doesn't seem like it. That's why I'm looking into it further now and why the storage server is still offline (on purpose, it's what may have set everything off.)
Arista is not in place and no update on that. We just ordered it through our provider and there were delays. No ETA. I actually asked for another update because unless it's getting there in a week or two, I need to order in a third or fourth EX4300, but I'm personally leaning toward it not necessarily being hardware this time around (which is actually somewhat worse in my opinion, it means there's some weird configuration issue and I'm not the one who set it up.)
Edit - Confirmed, they didn't do anything on their end so the most likely things that happened (1) it decided to randomly break itself and fix itself, (2) my button mashing did something positive. Still investigating while we wait on their knowledgeable tech's availability to be provided.

One of the reasons I expect hosts hold back from converting to Virtfusion is that VMs don't appear to migrate easily from SolusVM. Other providers that have made this migration have recreated my VMs, not migrated. I expect that, basically needing two separate billing panels while converting, and rewriting all the in-house code, would be a big ask of VirMach.
Maybe a separate brand would work. Virt-Mach, oh wait.

It's not that hard to convert, I think most LE* providers are just too lazy/incompetent to put the effort in. I'd like to eventually see Virmach make the switch but I'm also not that offended by Solus anymore. It works for the most part and I don't hang out in the VPS management screen all day.

Okay I've spent most of today really looking into our switches and making some improvements. I broke it for a couple minutes, I'm glad no one noticed. Our monitoring system didn't catch it either.
It's still possible I did something weird I shouldn't have but I still haven't heard back from the provider so I'm doing what I can to prevent another long outage and so we can move forward with bringing the storage connectivity back online. Anyway, I'm happy with what I discovered and changed. I hope. We had another network engineer do most of this previously and I don't like how they did it, I think the configuration is what could have caused some of these problems. I might be wrong, I don't know. When I say I don't like how they did it, I literally mean I, as in me, didn't like what I saw.
My changes might not necessarily fix the big issue but it should at the very least have improved some things in a measurable way to where it could have some positive impact until we switch over to the Aristas.

My VPS from ----Nerd is running smoothly on a Debian 12 template.
On a Ryzen node set up in 2022 or later? Because we could have also had it working on E5's set up before 2022. This is specifically a problem on newer installations on Almalinux after the whole CentOS thing happened.
There also is a workaround for it where you can check off a lazy option for corrupted templates, but I don't want to do that because it would impact some other things negatively. Of course I'm also not saying another host couldn't have figured it out, but SolusVM hasn't figured it out. I guess that's not saying much.

The current stable distribution of Debian is version 12, codenamed bookworm. It was initially released as version 12.0 on June 10th, 2023.

It's worth it because we'll make sure to not have a Debian 13 template ready until 2027.
Okay the template's good enough. I'm marking it as "BETA" and syncing it now.
Issues noticed so far with the startup/setup script:
UFW fails to start initially. May need a restart/reboot depending on options selected.
Firewall rule setting is kind of buggy/wrong (optional, you can just manually do it as well.)
Quick installer script don't work yet (doesn't matter.)
Confirmed working:
Password initially set & reset (this may vary per node, I've only tested it on one.)
SSH connection & networking
Desktop environment installation/setup (optional)
SSH port change (optional)
SSH key gen (optional, only tested earlier on.)
You'll be asked some setup questions on login, they're optional and just meant to make it easier, you can press enter to skip. I've thought about it and I can see how it'd be annoying for some advanced users but if it bothers you as an advanced user you can also install Debian 12 from ISO instead. The script can also remove itself or what we've installed (you can also just apt remove but that's curl, clearing firewall rules, removing fail2ban.) Quick installer scripts will be added later, it's done in a way where we can update those scripts without updating the whole template, it basically will curl a script from us and run it like for installing highly requested applications that require some level of proper configuration. Maybe we'll add LAMP/LEMP, OpenVPN, and so on later, but of course again just optional obviously if you have no problem doing it yourself (just means this isn't for you.)
Moving forward whatever templates we release will basically have this startup script so let me know if you have any suggestions. I think it beats how we used to do it where you had to read the notes to see what the SSH port is set to per template and what "security hardening" we did or didn't do.

Almalinux 8 minimal ISO is for amateurs. Now, getting Netboot to work and doing Almalinux 8 through that, that's for professionals. But yeah I've been meaning to add all the versions we replaced with "latest" being the next version. I just wanted them to be in a neat order without having to do database changes since SolusVM doesn't have sorting options for that so I wanted to make sure they all go together in the right order.

Just received PHXZ004 & it's alive. It wasn't a 10 second fix but it's would have been doable for QN LAX as suspected. Excited to finally use my 1Gbit upload speed from home (they also offer 5Gbit synchronous but I'm too cheap to do that right now, until I do all the network drops and figure out the power situation. Then I can pretend like we have a datacenter with 1 IPv4.)
Is it wise to have customers on a black friday server? I know it's 30% cpu usage but in terms of customers potentially causing issues, am I right that there's a no tolerance on these servers and any bother would = termination

Update on PHXZ004. Everything finished moving, the replacement server that's been stable and unused for months crashed after I was about to finalize it (during IP changes.) This has happened one other time before, it's the most infuriating thing ever.
They'll try to bring it back online but I obviously don't want to move people from a very long outage to another node that's just proven itself to be unstable. Except we don't have any other nodes in Los Angeles, this one was specific saved for PHXZ004. This all happened over the last hour or two. I'll know more soon, it's possible it crashed from something that can be easily resolved.

Other providers that have made this migration have recreated my VMs, not migrated. I expect that, basically needing two separate billing panels while converting, and rewriting all the in-house code, would be a big ask of VirMach.

It's not that hard to convert, I think most LE* providers are just too lazy/incompetent to put the effort in. I'd like to eventually see Virmach make the switch but I'm also not that offended by Solus anymore. It works for the most part and I don't hang out in the VPS management screen all day.

Okay I've spent most of today really looking into our switches and making some improvements. I broke it for a couple minutes, I'm glad no one noticed. Our monitoring system didn't catch it either.
It's still possible I did something weird I shouldn't have but I still haven't heard back from the provider so I'm doing what I can to prevent another long outage and so we can move forward with bringing the storage connectivity back online. Anyway, I'm happy with what I discovered and changed. I hope. We had another network engineer do most of this previously and I don't like how they did it, I think the configuration is what could have caused some of these problems. I might be wrong, I don't know. When I say I don't like how they did it, I literally mean I, as in me, didn't like what I saw.
My changes might not necessarily fix the big issue but it should at the very least have improved some things in a measurable way to where it could have some positive impact until we switch over to the Aristas.
On a Ryzen node set up in 2022 or later? Because we could have also had it working on E5's set up before 2022. This is specifically a problem on newer installations on Almalinux after the whole CentOS thing happened.
There also is a workaround for it where you can check off a lazy option for corrupted templates, but I don't want to do that because it would impact some other things negatively. Of course I'm also not saying another host couldn't have figured it out, but SolusVM hasn't figured it out. I guess that's not saying much.
Yes, can confirm. Debian 12 Works with 7950X fine with Greencloud and Nerd.

Okay I've gotten the Debian 12 template working. Not pushed out yet, I'm going to do some more testing first but SSH works, networking works, password resets work, apt update works, everything appears to work.

Issues noticed so far with the startup/setup script:

You'll be asked some setup questions on login, they're optional and just meant to make it easier, you can press enter to skip. I've thought about it and I can see how it'd be annoying for some advanced users but if it bothers you as an advanced user you can also install Debian 12 from ISO instead. The script can also remove itself or what we've installed (you can also just apt remove but that's curl, clearing firewall rules, removing fail2ban.) Quick installer scripts will be added later, it's done in a way where we can update those scripts without updating the whole template, it basically will curl a script from us and run it like for installing highly requested applications that require some level of proper configuration. Maybe we'll add LAMP/LEMP, OpenVPN, and so on later, but of course again just optional obviously if you have no problem doing it yourself (just means this isn't for you.)
Moving forward whatever templates we release will basically have this startup script so let me know if you have any suggestions. I think it beats how we used to do it where you had to read the notes to see what the SSH port is set to per template and what "security hardening" we did or didn't do.
Still would like an Alamalinux 8 minimal ISO added.

Almalinux 8 minimal ISO is for amateurs. Now, getting Netboot to work and doing Almalinux 8 through that, that's for professionals. But yeah I've been meaning to add all the versions we replaced with "latest" being the next version. I just wanted them to be in a neat order without having to do database changes since SolusVM doesn't have sorting options for that so I wanted to make sure they all go together in the right order.
I actually don't know if anyone's noticed that, it goes a certain way. I guess I'm just insane when it comes to things that don't matter.
I'm trying to get the Rocky template going next though since it was requested. Let's see what issues we run into for that one. I'll definitely wait to hear some feedback on the startup script first.

Just received PHXZ004 & it's alive. It wasn't a 10 second fix but it's would have been doable for QN LAX as suspected. Excited to finally use my 1Gbit upload speed from home (they also offer 5Gbit synchronous but I'm too cheap to do that right now, until I do all the network drops and figure out the power situation. Then I can pretend like we have a datacenter with 1 IPv4.)
Due dates will be extended and moving to LAX.

Is it wise to have customers on a black friday server? I know it's 30% cpu usage but in terms of customers potentially causing issues, am I right that there's a no tolerance on these servers and any bother would = termination
I'd only recommend that with AUP addon but I'm assuming you already have it.
Right now what we're trying is reducing suspension fee and being a little more lenient. Not really working out too well so far. It depends on what kind of abuse I guess? If it's insane I/O spike right now that's leading to the most suspensions and least tolerance. Everything else is okay as long as it's not something illegal on purpose.
Any plan for hardware upgrade?

Update on PHXZ004. Everything finished moving, the replacement server that's been stable and unused for months crashed after I was about to finalize it (during IP changes.) This has happened one other time before, it's the most infuriating thing ever.
They'll try to bring it back online but I obviously don't want to move people from a very long outage to another node that's just proven itself to be unstable. Except we don't have any other nodes in Los Angeles, this one was specific saved for PHXZ004. This all happened over the last hour or two. I'll know more soon, it's possible it crashed from something that can be easily resolved.
