Update, found out that HDD (slow storage) upgrades were being billed at the hourly rate for the original size.

So we have not been billing for 17.5TB worth of upgrades for a long time... Oops

As it was a code fault, its on us, no back billing will occur.

Damn... I missed that "one trick to save you money"

I speak fluent sarcasm and broken logic. | I would agree with you, but thæn we’d both be wrong.

    Few Haproxy updates.

    ...

This has been fixed, we have stronger logic now so single backend, multi domain, multi ports works now instead of randomly going offline after around 6 hours.

    ...

I did still experience difficulty with a backend running on a different port than 80. My service running on port 3001 would turn Unhealthy after some time and not recover, while the service was fine. HAProxy wouldn't serve it. I've since put it behind an Apache proxy on my host and it's been solid ever since.

May have been a glitch in the matrix, but thought I'd let you know in case it's helpful.

There was a bunch of fixes put in last week, maybe 2 weeks ago now, and we have not had a single HAProxy-related ticket since (of this nature) we did cause some 'reverse logic' issues when we tied the static hosting into it. seems to be pretty solid now on any port as long as whatever you run has a 200,301,302 response code at least 1 out of 100 times we try to connect.

  • BYOIP would be incredible, another +1 for it :)

Free credit is back on registration; we made some improvements around the checks.

Additionally, you now only get enough to test things for a few hours, a day or 2 at most if you really go ultra minimal, this allows people to actually test things, not just use the test as a way of getting free service. Hopefully, the effort will outweigh the reward now for attempting to get 100 free accounts.

We will see how it goes.

I created my first server yesterday. Beautiful.

  • Indeed, businesses that support BYOIP are a level above in terms of professionalism and flexibility.

TierHive, however, is not enterprisese-grade or even what I call, enterprise-fake (pretending to be cutting edge and pretending that it's not a small-scale operation) so professionalism really is of no concern, I would rather just be a human about things.

That said BYOIP is something we will do, I am both excited to get started on it and also anxious about the time suck I know it is going to be. :) so we will do it because its cool, not because we think anyone will actually use it :) a bit like IPv6, maybe even less so.

  • Byoip means you announce our allocated IPs for us?

DM us for private tracker invite.

I guess it can mean a few things, I usually lump announcements and bgp in together as BYOIP, rightly or wrongly.

  • Any plans for higher resource limits and API access and custom images? I`m recently looking into coder.com, and it seems like TierHive would be a great fit for automated dev servers (currently using Promox LXC for it)

Yes to all but not soon, API probably early 2027, we would like to offer 8GB Ram and 100GB disk and more cores when we have more beefy hardware but we are still growing.

Technically you can load a custom image now, just ipxe boot and use whet piped to dd to /dev/vda not exactly smooth but it works.

    Tokyo is live.

This is the first of a series of possible test locations; the max disk is limited to 20 GB; this was the best way we could come up with to keep uniform pricing between locations.

It's going to take a while to make a judgement call on whether we made the right decision, so not rushing ahead with Hong Kong or Korea yet.

    Enjoy.

  • Is there any early access in API? I am looking to write a Terraform provider.

Not while in Alpha, to much is changing on a regular basis; earliest will be early 2027

When you start talking about terraform, TierHive is probbaly not the option :)

I’m a user from South Korea, and I’d love to see a Korea region in the future.

I understand that operating in Korea can be very expensive, so I know it’s probably a difficult decision.

I’m really happy to see the Japan region has been launched. Thank you!

If Japan works out, it's a coin toss between Hong Kong and S.Korea

Actually, it's only slow when I use firefox, it connects right away if I use chrome.

  • Just so you know - sometimes ipv6 is not just a toy, but only method to connect if ipv4 is blocked by government. Sure that's a rare case, but I hope it's something you can think about while deciding to keep ipv6 or not.

I still hope Poland location will get ipv6 eventually tho.

I know, but also, TierHive is kind of a toy and not what you really want to use for serious stuff, literally not enterprise by design, we have simple goals, cheap and fun, if we started charging for the rare cases lots of people who don't care about ipv6 (literally 98%) would be unhappy with higher prices.

As such we do ipv6 in a way that we can, and even that is in question right now.

I am going to have a fresh look in August though.

Yeah, I understand, and I don't want to push it. But I've read enough of your jokes (or not) about ipv6 to be afraid of you dropping ipv6 altogether. Be it after beta or even in (someday) release.

Yeah it hit capacity quicker than expected, looking at options to add capacity.

  • I'm shocked 98% of user dont use IPV6 considering it's NAT VPS.. I find it very useful and hope IPV6 stays.
Gotta say, this panel is amazing!! not sure how one goes about creating something like this from scratch!.. Maybe you could like sell licensing like Virtualizor/SoluVM..

Definetly Cheap fun! I added $3 and gets me to run Alpine linux for over a year!! Thank you.

I spent 20 years being angry at panels.

Very much not interested in competing in the VPS panel market, I have a health condition which is not compatible with that kind of stress :)

I am not surprised about ipv6, most people don't understand it and current usage stats globally are passive not actual, meaning that it's available automatically if your isp enabled it you did not adopt it.
