New to virtualization, need help with vEthernet

edited October 2021 in General

Ok let me ask, also this thread maybe useful to someone who Googles it.

I want to create a VM in Hyper-V, which details to enter inside vEthernet as it says "undefined network".

Btw. Ethernet 4 is my default network for my Windows Server 2016. I have /29 and want to assign an IP to the VM. :p

  • What do you have configured in your Virtual Switch Manager?

For domain registrations, create an account at Dynadot (ref) and spend $9.99 within 48 hours to receive $5 DynaDollars!
Looking for cost-effective Managed/Anycast/DDoS-Protected/Geo DNS Services? Try ClouDNS (aff).

I guess this is one screenshot that I've posted. It's Properties of vEthernet? Don't laugh at me xD.

  • @Amadex , i suggest you start slowly by looking at youtube/udemy hypervisor material.

even if you did get steps to add guest networking, i am sure you will need something else.

it takes time ... so step by step.

I know, thanks for your tips. But lets make some forum content like old school forumers haha..

Nah, I just happen to use it on my mobile workstation after migrating from VirtualBox due to some weird issues ☺️

Hyper-V is sufficient for my use case at the moment, and there’s also WSL.
