@tulipyun said: Update: The service period for TYOC007 has been extended by four months.

My vps offline almost a year before back online a couple of months ago with nothing extended.

Make sure you create a ticket for your case if you haven't. It'll probably take a while for it to be processed but you'll likely get another extension. I assume yours was involved in some other non-mass issue.

San Jose additional extensions weren't all completed as I (mis)remembered, they only went through for those in LAX. I've finished the new credit system and imported old logs so now everyone has eyes on what actually happened and it will make it easier to see what was missed in cases where multiple customers were affected and partially credited. You and everyone else can now view your previous service extensions we have on file by going to the "modify service" tab (although it may be moved to "billing details" later.)

@tulipyun said: However, @VirMach does not appear to have resolved the control panel issue with TYOC007 yet; the VPS cannot be accessed via the control panel, and the status is shown as ‘undefined’.

They're in maintenance mode for the time being until maintenance is "finalized." Most still need extensions processed, I/O usage monitored, some recreations and transfers. It's taking a bit longer than anticipated (as usual) but hopefully done soon.

Yes. About 18% of people on NYCB047. Added to new status page.

@wsw said: I’m not sure if this will lighten your workload, but if you could migrate my server to Japan, I don’t need to retain any data; you can simply set up a blank VPS for me.

It sounds like we just need to finish rolling out some version of the "secondary service" feature in a less confusing manner and hooks up with our migration system so it actually lightens workload versus having to check who opted for what. It'd be a good solution here for these cases and basically successfully fulfill its original intention of making sure everyone has a service during extended outages so I'm looking into it. The priority for these is still to just finish the original migration queue, which I'm actively working on.

And SJCZ006 is not mentioned either, but with so many outages listed there: it's really a joke... The VirmAche status page is down most of the time anyway.

That is the old status page for a third party service we used that sunsetted. It was never hosted by us, it started having issues a few months before they shut down the service. The domain will redirect to our new status page once we add in related features to give people a similar overview of nodes (not focusing on this right now.)

PS: RSS updates are now available too—you can even subscribe to private RSS updates!

Glad you like it. The features I'm pushing* out are aimed at alleviating some of the grief caused by things that haven't been done so great over the past year. You just caught this one a little early so I'm still working out some of the specific features that were added near the end of development.

Some additional systems needed to get hooked up together for SJCZ012 issue to appear due to its relation to the old IP block being phased out. Sorry about all the RSS feed spam if you're subscribed, I need to keep flushing the system to see how it does everything and some of the stuff kept repeating updates.

The IPv6 connectivity of TYO026 appears to have been unavailable for quite a long time (nearly a year), and it still does not seem to be restored. Could you please confirm whether this issue can be fixed or if there is any plan to restore it?

From my testing, IPv6 traffic cannot be routed beyond the gateway, which suggests a possible upstream routing issue. The traceroute result is as follows:

traceroute to google.com (2404:6800:400b:c005::64), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets

Most paying methods are traceable, so if you want to stay anonymous, maybe some crypto currency is worth trying, but vir might not support as of 2022.

But then again, your network may betray you, so you may have to use TOR, but there are numerous honey pots, not to mention browser and social engineering, which is an endless chase-and-catch race, and you are always able to say something correct.

Generally bad advice for what's trying to be achieved. Reported as lost/stolen or whatever doesn't prevent the card from being auto updated with the merchant, so previous charges/subscriptions can still go through. It only prevents the old number from being used for new purchases. Of course this could vary but generally how it works these days.

We could, but don't get the card details, it effectively works the same way as PayPal for the purposes you describe in this case. I think the proper solution for what you're trying to achieve in terms of online payments would just be using a virtual card service.

I'm more concerned about the logging out part. Removing cards has been enabled on and off (and it has nothing to do with the reasons people generally assume here, it's mostly related to fraud and cancellation grace periods.) There's a project that's slowly being worked on (not priority) that will hopefully finally get us to be able to properly let everyone do whatever they want without enabling bad actors to take advantage of being able to add/remove cards strategically to basically more easily use stolen cards.

I've seen your comments and almost replied to them a few times but it just takes so long to work on that server right now relative to everything else, and when I do, it just ends up getting worse.

For example, the other day when you made this comment I spent a solid 6 hours on it going through and manually fixing and checking every little thing cPanel broke when it ran an autoupdate. Previously, at least websites and everything not directly related to cPanel functioned. I got cPanel back up after manually piecing everything together to push it through small updates at a time, combed through everything, double checked, everything was going fine. I wake back up a few hours later and just cPanel running overloaded/crashed the server. Only other solution at this point is to just set things up on a new server, and migrate customers over. The server itself is relatively fine (as proven by it being more stable with cPanel having broken itself, definitely lasted way longer than like 4 hours.)

I wanted to avoid making it worse, unfortunately that has happened, so I'll try to at least get it to a semi-functional state again and just make sure I get through all the other issues so I can focus on it again, maybe finally do proper migration over to OKC.

Not so in Singapore. Last time I actually lost my physical Mastercard, they replace the existing card with a new one with different numbers. Got notified that payment failed on my subscriptions and mobile line bill payments. I had to re-add the card to my online accounts for it to be charged. Not sure how it goes for Visa, but good to know that different countries do it differently!

This one had similar issues. A group of us that have been stakeholders for more than a decade got together last year and staged a revolt against the board and removed all but the largest corporate sponsor. It is understandably hard to put a good group together when there is nothing in it for them other than a lot of hard work with zero monetary rewards. Fortunately we got lucky and found a small group of people willing to take on the legal responsibility of being board members that also have the various required talents, are selfless, honest, and can work together to serve the needs of others. All the credit for this goes to my wonderful wife who is perfect in every way. I'm just the numbers guy.

IP renumbering is about to happen again. These will be with a provider I trust who has mentioned they have no intention of pulling them any time soon, therefore it's good for long-term stability (as with IPXO, even though we've avoided major problems compared to two other providers in the past by having it from many different lessors, there's always been a few of them that randomly decide they want them back or try to 2x the price.)

NYC is happening first, and it will be with shorter notices than intended. The good news is that the shorter notice is as a result of working on and testing a new IP renumbering system that will make the whole process smoother and automatic.

It has a "planning" feature where we plan out the changes and it validates/analyzes everything, then a robust system that we can use to correct issues as they come up. Everything gets mapped out and scheduled, nodes get automatically locked off, everyone gets contacted, and you also get some controls on your end to process your change sooner if desired if available.

LAX is happening for a portion of customers with the NYC batches, and the rest next week.

I'm doing the final checks today and finishing any preparation work, and batches will begin being queued tonight.

Due to the renumbering happening, while the system supports it, in some cases, I want to just get some of them out of the way before proceeding with any outages that overlap. So the renumbering may take away priority from working on certain outages. Once everything's planned I'll try to provide an update on any remaining outages.

I couldn't get our own reconfiguring script ready in time, but that's been improved as well. Reconfiguration goes in its own queue that's staggered better. This does still use SolusVM's reconfiguring, so it means if the reconfiguring actually messes with your network, you'll have to correct it as usual.

I'm going to start taking a look at individual requests/complaints here again, and we'll start with yours.

I went to check our private communications and I don't have a quick way to reference your account from that, could you let me know some reference number (could be anything, IP, invoice, ticket ID, your email.) And let me know what's outstanding that you're waiting on? I'm getting older so my memory's not as great as it used to be when it comes to individual customers but I vaguely remember it being in relation to rDNS/PTR and you not being able to used some service(s) as a result and wanting a refund exception for a purchased Black Friday special? Just confirm with me what you need and I can have it processed. I'm sure there may be other grievances since then so just let me know and I'll have it sorted out for you.

It appears you have processed my ticket, but the issue has not been resolved.
Hello! I just received the invoice for this Japanese VPS. I assume you may have resolved the previous issue where the invoice wasn’t generated, so I paid the bill immediately. However, my VPS service has not been restored—it is still suspended!
Additionally, my other Dutch VPS appears normal in the control panel, but it has network issues when connecting to external > networks! So it remains unusable as well!
Please help me fix this so I can use it properly! Thank you very much.

I didn't process your ticket, so that's why it might not be resolved yet.

You mention that you have two services in the ticket, and no invoices generated. I see both of these are due in 2027. Another one not mentioned in the ticket that's due, I've added a month and regenerated invoice.

If you have any other issues please make a separate ticket for that as it looks like you closed your ticket.

If you have any other issues please make a separate ticket for that.

@VirMach Is the network issue at the Los Angeles data center still being missed?

I've actively been working on this. How it goes is it gets better temporarily, then gets worse again. Some changes are planned, I'm having network engineers take a look at this point as well. We might just need to change out the switches here.

Someone else posted about gateway IP ping looking terrible, that's likely from some rate limiting I set and it does not have a direct impact on the network, it might appear as it being related since other issues are going on.

Some of the network issues has been from abuse, adds on to the switch load. Overall though from my spot testing we should definitely overall be in a much better situation more recently than where this round of network issues started end of last year. If you do continue posting about this could you please provide some context on the frequency, period of time, etc?

My VPS servers have been down for several months now; one of them will have been offline for a full year by May. Please move them to any location in the U.S. The data they contained no longer matters. PLEASE.

    Ticket #383716

    @FrankZ @VirMach

This is Miami, right? Your server's in Oklahoma, since that project stalled out I never finished re-assigning IP addresses and bringing it back online. You'll just get a service extension and it'll be brought back when it's ready.

Only like half a dozen people or so are affected so I'm not spending any time on that issue right now, sorry.

If the data doesn't matter, you'll likely see some new system get activated and contact you about being able to redeploy automatically elsewhere once it's ready. This also applies to anyone else stuck on a dead server right now. That system's almost ready too.

OK just a little one for you then!

You may not have realised this, but VirMach has never deployed billing servers on its own nodes. B)

That'll be going to OKC soon so we can increase billing area outages.

FYI: Due to the requests from the members that thanked the post at the top of this page, along with the ok by @Mason, I'm back moderating @VirMach threads.

Don't you guys think it's kind of strange how right after @FrankZ comes back, @VirMach is more active?

Come to think of it, @FrankZ did claim to work for a non-profit, too..

  • TYO started having more issues around the same time migrations from SJC to Tokyo were supposed to take place, and some of the issues were actually exasperated by the migrations happening.

Therefore, some of the migrations might end up being redirected to LAX after renumbering. I'll have more specific information about these in the next few days.

Well that settles it, he works for a non-profit, I work for a negative-profit.

Glad to see that you may be able to be a little more active here. I missed seeing your updates and chatting.

Just to be clear, my work at the non-profit is also definitely a negative-profit situation.
The more time goes on, the similarities between VirMach and myself do seem to be more than coincidental.
Now if I was as young has he is ......

I'm working for a small non-profit that actually makes me spent more money in servers than what I get paid. So, I'm also in a negative-profit situation.

Actually, I'm always in a negative-profit situation, no matter who I work for.

    Anyone else?

    Thank you for you participation.
