Steelers ... who started almost as bad as the Lions, but improved some during the season.

They didn't make the playoffs. They've been cursed with decades of competency ( playoffs in 20 or so of the last 30 years ) so their expectations are set accordingly. It's a lot easier being a Detroit fan. We're excited if our draft picks make the team.
I'm both glad and sad at the same time that Steelers didn't get to the playoffs. Great finish to the season, next should be great, all season.
But when every NFL talk show began counting the percentage chance of getting to the playoffs and the Steelers began to win multiple games in a row. Hopes went up and I'm sure that if Miami hadn't won that last week's game against the Jets.. the Steelers fans would have believed in a new Lombardi trophy.
And they would have been so disappointed when losing the first playoff game. So that's why I'm glad that they didn't go to the playoffs.
Better to end the season with a win than with a loss. With some good places in the draft picks, I'm already looking forward to next season.
