Best way to backup android photos to S3/B2?
Hi, I'm thinking of backing up my android photos to either Wasabi or B2. I know Folder Sync, but that app was a bit buggy for me so I'm looking for some kind of alternative.
Anything that can do either scheduled backup or instant backup (syncs photo instantly after taking it), and can also backup old photos would be nice.
Thanks

Why not just keep with google boss? Photos is a wonderful app (unless privacy concern ofcourse).

Yup, Photos is a wonderful app, but it costs extra $$s (around $3/m for my usage), and tbh Google Photo is good for managing photos itself, but is a PITA to manage as individual files
I thought it was "unlimited" with their optimization?

I always prefer original files than compressed/optimized/etc.
Ofcourse you do....
Maybe this would help?

If you can see a difference in their optimization I'd genuinely be impressed unless your hyper zoomed in or need full quality for photoshop or whatever.

Thanks for the recommendation!
Looking into this. It seems like the host computer needs to be on in order to backup online? I'll give it a try though
True, I do understand that in most cases, optimization really doesn't make a difference on viewing the image. It's just my habit of doing so
On iOS I use the PCloud App, to store the images/ videos/ screenshots. Then copy them to Rethink. The only problem is sometimes the images get stored as HIEF which many applications do not recognize.
There use to be another service I used int he past to link different cloud services...multcloud. I am glad they moved to a Freemium Model. Good service, for some providers (like OneDrive) I had minimal data loss- but that was three years ago.

Seafile has a Camera roll uploader
I turned it off because of all the shitty blurry dog pics it was wasting mobile data on.
Oops. I need to sync up 6-8 months now
OK, so after some research, it seems like nextcloud + s3 backend seems to be the best fit for me.
Still looking into this though (syncing with a cloud provider and using rclone move to S3) as a backup plan! Thanks!
I actually came up with the Nextcloud idea thanks to you (since I'm more familiar with Nextcloud than Seafile)!
this is great https://www.photosync-app.com/home.html - I use it to backup to my NAS too. I use it for both iOS and Android devices. Developer very responsive via email. Worth the $
@sanvit
Rclone is a great idea, of course three years ago I had not even heard of it :-)
That opens up many more options including yes Nextcloud.

It seems like the app doesn't support S3 on Android. However I think I can make a workaround via rclone. The app itself seems promising. Thanks!
Sorry about that, I just checked my Android install and it doesn't seem to support S3 . I actually transfer everything from my devices to my NAS via SMB then rclone to cloud from there
syncthing has been my go to for personal backup.
But still require a server/vps/pc, since android unable run multiple instances of syncthing
mount the S3 storage object to linux server/vps/pc, then point the folder sync location.
run 2 instances on server if you want to backup on both local drive and remote drive from a single server
This conversation reminded me I use iDrive mobile app had purchased a 1 TB or so plan for 5 years $20 or so. Have two more years remaining
