    see y'all next year

    Thanked by (1)ariq01

    I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.

  • @VirMach - thank you for capping off a fun weekend in a really special and memorable way.

I'm going to remember this for a long long time - it's not every day (or year even) that you get a nice lesson in History, VMs, Math and Programming all together in a fun and challenging way.

I asked for Easter Eggs and boy oh boy you gave us more than enough. This is definitely a class apart from anything else esp. in the LE world.

I hope you have (already had?) wonderful sales (and can support all of us cheapskates with our crazy low end purchases).

As @FAT32 said - your IQ in real life will be very high to stimulate a tough crowd like us here. I'm very optimistic that with IQs like that you'll find a way to keep our $8.88 machines online for a long time to come (and I'll definitely pay those bills!).

If you're bored, you know where to find us (and we're not even really after those coupons though it may motivate us, especially if you throw one of those 12/12/120/12000 (or whatever) at $1.21 or even $12.11)

    Thanks!

(not tagging other users here as there are too many of you to thank who have helped get here)

You can run a couple of YABS to feel better. Then, have chatGPT explain to you the results ... make it explain like you were a fifth grader. Suddenly you will feel "I know this!" I did the same.

I'm still trying to figure out how to run YABS on Windows. I came across something about WSL2, but...busy with work and then gestures this.

@VirMach you just a spy who does this in your spare time?

I said from the last one not gonna ever make it to Bletchley Park and you come out with an enigma based puzzle taking it up a peg. I miss the obscure movie characters :s

Thanks for an awesome Black Friday, I can only thank god I wasn't online today.

If I have time I would... after the whole BF event on OGF even my work performance has been rapidly dropping... if I spend a bit more time not working I probably would get into a danger zone especially year end bonus is on the line.

Yeah, that's fair. Anyway, did you even actually go to sleep?

Ya I did, but that's probably the only time I am not on BF thread.

I browse the thread almost 24/7: Transit / Work (most of the time except meeting) / Eat / Shower / Washroom / Chores

I booked over 1,500 vaccine appointments for seniors who were struggling as my state allowed smokers to schedule them online at the same time. Used scripts, coding, Puppeteer, Selenium, keyword checkers to snap up cancelled appointments, even good ol' shell, and finally once hospitals got them locally: reverse engineering values of cookie only allowed "2" vaccines in browser EPIC MyChart , I called "the narc cookie."

These were the seniors of my town, over 70, some needed transportation so I was happy to do whatever it took. Worked directly with the town and seniors would contact the mayor's office who I shared a Google Sheet with. Only was able to do it because I was out of a job because the last MSP I worked at had me on two large accounts - both airlines - during COVID, who migrated away to save cash.

Only mentioned because I cannot come near this level of skill. I've come to the conclusion I am a brute forcer and slap-dash coder at best. Clearly not good at math, equations, ciphers, or near the level this puzzle has taken.

It's taken me down a peg or two to be honest. Just trying anagrams with usernames I spent 2 hours on and got one code. =)

Also what FAT32 said, this has tunnel-visioned me beyond belief and I gotta make rent next month.

Still trying, but will probably need to soon. I can't even figure out how to exclude a specific letter from decoding, and then reinsert it without doing it on paper by hand. It's already late and I still have a lot of work left to do before I can sleep. :'(

@VirMach said: I think there were several since you started talking about wanting to pick up Tokyo. But probably with less exciting specifications.

I was even fine with a 768 or 512'er for a single UK instance, but instead snapped up a $8/year 2 IPv4 NYC. Only really was checking the last two days after the 512MB instance disappeared after breaking logic

Once you allow us to combine these I'll be able to rent it to OpenAI with the NYC idlers I have going. Needed that solid 20. ;)

Do you guys want a clue on the key, or do you guys want a clue on the part that will reduce the number of codes you have to try? You only get one or the other. I'll let whoever replies first to decide (if they've been working on this and posting about it actively.)

I would defer to @Wonder_Woman, since they're way ahead of me.

Edit: me dumb like rock, remember?

  • I'm guessing the letter that we have to replace is Q because it's the only letter shared by all the codes:

I guess my vote is for a clue that will reduce the number of codes to try. That should hopefully give us the key relatively quickly... I hope

The first working code is in the 4th part out of six parts (if you divide them into eight per part, so the last one has nine.)

So I've reduced 1225~ potential codes to try to a little over 200.

    QESDHNNF
    MYQOIMIP
    GQPTBMIF
    YQFUCNXG

If anyone else wants to try figuring out the key, the cipher, and then trying each of these codes after decrypting and swapping out the character you think needs replacing.

  • edited December 3

It's probably not Q. I tried one Q code replacing all characters in browser bc that's how tired I am and no go, so not Q.

EDIT: those were from earlier codes, might be wrong.

Is it the same cipher as for the instructions, but preserving the Q? (I have to admit I was confused by his description of doing the post-preservation switching).

Someone's already talked about the cipher and there's only one popular cipher that specifically uses a word/phrase as the key.
