    Yeah, you have to convert them first using the key. The cipher is likely the Vigenère Cipher

    And we're still guessing what the key is? Hmm

    My brain is already fried from spending way too many hours and I'm not even sure at which steps we're at exactly.

    I was now busy using "YNQYZEOL" and then replacing each letter position with a candidate letter and then testing all 8 and moving on to the next...

    but getting the idea that not what I'm meant to do at all right now?

    So if you can give me 5th grader instructions / website / steps to do to help, I'm all willing
