Was manually replacing it from the position the Q was in before decrypting it, with a new letter to try out in that position, after decrypting it. not removing it from that section (like I just showed by removing q in that photo)

It would also make a difference whether the Q was simply deleted or replaced with a placeholder letter/symbol before decoding.
