Damn, that is even better. Wish it was in SJC, I would have bought it at that price (+ one more idler discount)

@ususk said: Also out of all upstream providers why did you choose purple daddy's ex-employer that also has a bad mix

Many reasons. I don't perfectly recall, but I'd imagine it was a mix of the following, with some of it definitely being in hindsight:

    TLDR: it's cheap and close

They also offer a better mix. We didn't get it. More optimized for Asia is pretty much the main difference. If enough customers want it, start a petition, once we see more than half of the people in LAX likely want it, then we can do that and then raise prices for everyone to cover the added cost.

Don't get it. It's a 100% scam unless it's from ex Multacom who were also acquired by Edge centers.

@ususk said: Too bad SJC has a good network mix but seemingly much more congested than QN. Switch/router issue?

Also I can't even replicate your issue, but I'm assuming what you said is correct and sometimes it may only be 300Mbps from the shared port in some specific scenarios. The only concerning part is if it's actually the maximum (assuming you're testing to nearby) and you got much lower most the time.
I mean I can "replicate" 300Mbps but to... London. Otherwise 550-800Mbps range in the US.

I'm getting the lower end of the 550-800 to SJC from other provider and LAX now. Better than when I posted it but still not good for burst speed, and I pushed to 900+ to other SJC flash sale so it does look like a provider issue.

@ususk said: Shouldn't the new location has more empty space than any other locations in the beginning?

This isn't how flash sales work. Think of the new location as a new game of Tetris. Sure we could just put in any piece anywhere since it's empty. What happens 30 seconds later in the game?

like... you clear all the lines aka expand the location or add more location?

I ran iperf to public server and my own servers near LAX. My idler on that specific node is slow in general compared to other nodes.

@VirMach I already had a feeling that it was going to be another Tokyo location, or at least in JP. I was thinking/curious on if it would be to another xtom location.

Hope they stay with xTom cat network, the best upstream of all their locations
xTom Japan is now rebranded as cat network from what Ive heard

various bash scripts do 98% of the setup for me. Used to be 100%, but I need to update them so I now have to do a little manual tweaking at the end.

Thank you <3 I haven't used or worked with bash scripts before. I heard I could use ansible for this use case, and perhaps maybe one day I'll spend sometime learning ansible, or perhaps try making a simple bash script and improve over time.

There are lots of new ways to do things, but I am old and have already learned too many things along the way.
I still use bash, and program in perl and python. You probably should not take advise from me.
