I fit in the crowd that says low cost rather than low resources as demonstrated by a $14/yr VPS with 2 GB 3 VCPU 50 GB Disk 1.95 TB Bandwidth that is many years old. I used it to host a minecraft server (low user count) at one time. LOL. It'…

sshd_config will not have an Include line if you are working on a system with openssh below about 8.1 or 8.2. AlmaLinux 9.8 and 10.2 puts the Include as the first non-comment line. Mageia Linux 9 and 10 has it as the first non-comment line. RHEL 9.…

:astonished: When I read the deadpool blog posts, I was surprised not to see VirMach in one of them. There are, and I have one, systems that have fallen on hard times in the past, but which racked up more reasonable stable time. :smil…

(Quote) Thanks for the hint. Yes, I have suspected that the IP changed, however @Virmach has not been forthcoming with a new IP, nor in advising how to tell what the IP is when a broken CPanel does not get fixed. I have a VPS (at another location)…

@Virmach, the last IP address I had for my web host on lax2z017 is serving a microsoft.com certificate on an akamai host that seems to be routed through AS7488. Where's the IP? I never had a microsoft.com certificate. This isn't just a …

Does he prefer Crème Brûlée over flan? (Image) Maybe @VirMach could be convinced to fix LAX2Z017 if someone gave him some Crème Brûlée?
-
(Quote) Same. Well, he did credit me a lot for losing the domain, but I never seem to get anything for downtime on the web host, and its had numerous extended outages.
-
@VirMach How can I verify what my web host IP address is when the control panel is broken and not working?
-
"Please ensure your virtual server is using the new IP before the old IP is removed. Our system will attempt to update the network configuration on your VPS automatically on finalization. If that fails for any reason, you can run "Reconfig…

(Quote) @Virmach : I read a couple of things out of this: 1. It apparently is felt the web host is/was working. 2. Worse must be your side; from my side, its the same as it has been for ages (domain pointing at worthless). 3. I'm thankful you h…

LAXZ017: Homepage critical errors 61 days begin 2/12/26, 5:36 PM Sorry, we can't reach the page (Homepage). CPANEL: Action Failed Unable to auto-login. Please contact support.

@VirMach LAX2Z017 is broken. It is not possible to access either the control panel or web mail. This has been going on for a while now. Sometimes the web host is actually hosting the website, but right now it isn't. I believe that it has be…

@Virmach, the lax2x017 web host has issues again. Attempting to connect to webmail produces: (Quote) Attempting to access the control panel produces: (Quote) The host is not 'down' in the sense that web pages are still being served.

@Virmach The lax2z017.virm.ac shared hosting server proves a stubborn one. After attention, it came up, and then went back down. Site-monitoring says: Begin 1/15/26, 9:17 AM Sorry, we can't reach the page (Homepage).
-
@VirMach lax2z017.virm.ac shared hosting server is not responding (control panel, email, web space). This incident is short-lived compared to some of your other customer issues. Currently 2 days beginning 1/12/26, 10:38 AM.

One of mine renewed. It cost less than a bag of popcorn at the movie theater. (Image)

Curiously, whilst some time ago a web host node in LAX (not a VPS package) had a lot of trouble, now, except for short and currently rare instances of trouble, this node node has been stable for an extended period of time. An NYC VPS node has been s…

So if I start to type a comment, then decide not to send it, the LES site appears to remember this in perpetuity. I cannot find a way to wipe it out. Perhaps this is why I see some blank posts on here... people resetting the message input by editi…

virmach.com.> @msatt said: (Quote) virmach.com itself references TrustPilot, where currently the rating is 1.5, so fine, don't depend on LES, which isn't referenced there. Of course, one does have to look past the retarded local site …

It's kind of a pain, that, in the days of having the ability to search, people don't want to have to do their own research. Someone else has to do the work to make one's life less of a pain. We're on page 410. Is it really tha…

(Quote) It's a big assumption to think that people were on LES before they bought their service. I only found out about LES after a year of downtime and lack of communication on tickets for that entire time. After a LOT of searching, I found …

I guess everyone should understand what is said and NOT SAID. https://virmach.com/terms-conditions/#sla I feel pretty sure the SLA has changed pretty significantly of late. During my year of down time, I'm pretty sure it was much more normal…

I got called out for complaining (without coarse language) about a service being down over a year, and losing a domain I had registered with Virmach. People were acting like it was my problem, not Virmach's. Well, it was Virmach's proble…

(Quote) Yes, I neglected to mention that it seems down from the VPS point of view.

Wondering if the NYC work may have borked some network configuration. NYCB018 isn't in the list of hosts on the network status page, but networking is down. VNC appears to be working. The gateway at 141.11.235.1 appears down.
-
@VirMach Thanks for restoring the control panel and web mail. Presumably certificate issues there such that HTTPS is broken for connections to both control panel and web mail interfaces are already known.

@VirMach lax2z017.virm.ac is down/unreachable again. Posting here because network status asks that tickets not be opened (albeit lax2z017 is not listed there, so IDK what is expected).

(Quote) I do prefer the ticket system as long as it gets timely results. I only mentioned the number here because I've happened to have a number of tickets drop into a black hole. I'll wait it out, hoping the migration will make this ser…

(Quote) @VirMach : Web hosting on lax2z017.virm.ac came back up after being down, but control panel and web mail did not. Then again, the ticket for them (#482793) has been open since 01/29/2025, so 'the good old days are back again'.
