270 day service extension is actually better than having a working service, right?
-
(Quote) Did you get a year worth of extension?
-
He's around -- unless AI added 45 more days to my SJC vps.
-
If i did something with them, they wouldnt be an idle vps anymore, so I don't do anything with them.
-
(Quote) My VPS IP has been pinging for months... but from some other company in Finland. Virmach doesnt control/lease these IPs anymore.
-
Virmach goes in every month or few months and extends the credit on my SJC server without even being asked. Is that the same for everyone else?
-

(Quote) Yes, I can't do anything though. Dropdown box of destinations is still empty.
-
we got progress! the migrate function would let me do a free migration on my dead San Jose VPS, but I can't pick a destination location. I like the direction of that because once I can pick a new location I'm moving it. Looking at NYC/Chi…
-
Preference would be to move my dead San Jose server to somewhere other than Tokyo :)
-
@neelc does this have ddos protection of any kind?
-
The 3 month extension on the San Jose VPS will need to be a 6 month extension i guess. Its not going well.
-
Down to 1 Virmach service. Sad, used to be my fave host.
-
@edenten if you had a San Jose server, he apparently took them all to Los Angeles and he needs to assign new IPs to them so that they'll work.
-
how much revenue has everyone lost from San Jose being down?
-
Maybe we get Hannukah Candles this year?
-
Even though my NYC has been rock solid for years, its time for it to go, no confidence that it will stay up for another 12 months.
-
So people in this thread have talked recently about their offline servers being put back online... can that happen without Virmach? Does a storage server just come back online by itself?
-
Couldnt we imagine that Virmach just picked up the Atlanta servers and is driving them to a new location?
-
Maybe he's coming back this year with a big Hanukkah candles offer like last year?
-
Virmach's best feature is that you can cancel and remove cancellation automatically... so you could leave it to the last day and remove the cancellation and pay if you wanted to give yourself the maximum amount of time to think it over.
-
ya, i guess we can't assume he'll be back to fix things and make everyone happy. He must be really out of it if he knows about the network in Los Angeles dropping all day and its not fixed yet.
-
he's not gone, he'll do the usual, fly around, fix some servers, do some migrations, credit for downtime, get people happy again... sell a shitton of deals. etc...
-
Curious about how the other well known DDOS protection hosts that use CDN77 are handling this.
-
(Quote) domain expired
-
Bad news for all other DDOS protection providers that use CDN77/DP ?
-
Los Angeles will stop dropping all day some day soon right?
-
LAX-Z0015 has had the network drop every 5 minutes for the last 2 months or so, I just shut it off about a month ago because its useless.
-
The code works for monthly --- would be tempted if there was DDoS protection at this price for that amount of resources.
-
any LAXA015 updates? its been down 10 or so hours now.
-
@VirMach did the more knowledgeable tech go in this morning and fix it? is the new arista stuff in place?
-
(Quote) The Mystery Box #1 has not been unveiled yet, so nobody knows what they got yet.
-
@Virmach so the mystery hasn't been delivered yet? I just assumed Candle #1 was the minimum specs and I didn't 'win' anything? (thanks for making it better though!)
-
Nice. Could be happy with Candle #1, but was hoping for a little more.
-
I spun the dreidel and ended up with 1GB/mth bandwidth too, surely a mistake.
-
You can mount the Debian 12 ISO and install from that, then you don't have to worry about someone having done something to the templates.
-
@Virmach are you rolling out a new generation of servers for this offer?
-
(Quote) obviously he needed a part for tyoc037.
-
Virmach has disappeared for months previously... he eventually turned up and flew around the world fixing stuff. I don't think there is any real reason for concern yet.
-
my NYC servers are still doing amazing, we're talking 4 core or higher, 4GB ram or higher, tons of space, tons of IPs, tons of bandwidth, each vps is like $1.50 a month. I've had VPS like this for more than 5x the price that weren't a…

what if Virmach is just building all new servers for Black Friday? he might be on his 200th new server, workbench fully loaded.
-
run 'screen', (install if necessary) and then run yabs inside of screen. if you get disconnected you can reconnect and re-attach to your screen and youll see the yabs results. I had a cloudcone and some other VMs that would disconnect me d…

How about just idling and running YABS? cool?
-
ya, Virmach does try to make things right.
-
on the bright side, my long offline NY server is back up and I got credited for all the downtime and then some.
-
(Quote) so did you go back to it and cancel your replacement server?
