Lifetime products are an investment in the company's lifetime, basically. Don't invest money you can't afford to loose. Same applies for investments like stocks/ETF etc.

Seeing this status is a bit worrying, it means there are more lifetime users. Hopefully it will last at least 1 year and I won't feel like I've lost anything.

Iirc during bf there were biggest promotions for lifetime vps around 30-35% off. So the 50% coupon above is really good for lifetime vps. You could try if it still works
