    IP change tickets/emails finally sending.

@VirMach I think the Two-Factor (per email) system might be broken, or extremely delayed (last 10+ hours or so)

Also, I haven't received any of the IP change emails you mention.

I figure the two might be related.
Either bottlenecked or maybe something broken with the emails perhaps. :o

    Update:
Since 12min ago, I'm starting to receive the IP change emails (3 thus far, 2nd after 3mins; 3rd 7mins after 2nd)
Two-Factor (per email) not getting through yet.

So I assume the Two-Factor (per email) will work once the mail queue is cleared. :)

  • Speaking of transfers, did anyone end up with a large storage VPs in LA that they want to part with? I could use like 2-4tb if anyone decided it's not a good fit for them. Probably a long shot, I don't know how many other people bought these big plans, but still worth a shot.

If your individual VPS was down before the move/status updates, then you wouldn't get a personal update for your individual VPS and would likely have to open a ticket if nothing else works.

  • IPv4 change tickets should be wrapping up sending now, had a few issues but hopefully I did a good job in fixing them and not sending that many duplicates or missing any. Atlanta was excluded for now since we're not done with that location yet/announcement, same with Seattle or any Dedipath locations already handled in some other way.

Create ticket for any incorrect price adjustments. They happen in certain situations where the system didn't properly do the change.

For some reason I did as well. Nope, waiting almost 2 days for them to respond to us basically. They did reply on Saturday and asked for... MTR. And they did say they fixed it like on Thursday or whenever that was as well. Some of the blocks still only reach Vultr, NetActuate, CloudSigma, and Softlayer (not even Google DNS.) Others reach Google, NetActuate, Online.net, CloudSigma, MHOST, Vultr, Tencent, Aliyun, China Telecom. But that's it, even though it's all correct, it's getting low visibility, filtered, most likely related to their edge router in SJC.

I barely have any experience with this company so far, but I will say it seems like usually when they do not reply, they're working on it and waiting on someone else. Fingers crossed for Monday morning.

  • Some good news for customers in China though, I don't knw what it will actually end up looking like but right now it's 155 ping and 0% loss to Shanghai Aliyum, 138 ping and 1% loss to Zhejiang China Telecom, 139 ping and 0% loss to Jiangsu China Telecom.

Comparing that with xTom San Jose which we couldn't afford, this is the closest I've seen any other network get to that. Where it gets really close is with China Telecom Zheijiang: 135 (xTom) versus 138 (Evocative.) For comparison, LAX Hivelocity to this one is 158 and QuadraNet is 147 right now. And I've never seen this happen but at least for right now, xTom to Aliyun Beijing is 160 while San Jose Evocative is 156. All the other routes it has to Chin right now though aren't great and the issue probably needs to be resolved to see the real numbers for them.

It also beats out everyone to Vultr Sydney, only 145 ping versus 150-182.

And probably my favorite, 140ms to Amsterdam Online.net

Just as a FYI for any of you who had a VM that was expiring in the middle of September, that you had previously cancelled. The VM removal cron script does nor appear to be running, maybe because Virmach turned it off, maybe because it does not run when a node is locked. The suspension for non payment cron does run however. So you may notice that these expired VMs are now suspended because you did not pay the invoice, that was not generated because there was an outstanding cancellation request. I don't expect this to be a problem and I expect it will get cleaned up directly eventually.

Hi @nutjob long time no see. I hope you are doing well. :)

Hi Frank, I'm doing fine, thanks for asking. Hope you're keeping everyone in line here. Keep cracking that whip!

  • @VirMach said: I am guessing it still has to do on Evocative's end with the router. I've spent a lot of time going down a rabbit hole and everything seems to point to their router having some problem that's causing visibility issues. It's announced properly, RPKI is correct, shows up on everything, but it looks like it's only getting picked up by only a few carriers, except if you dig into it everything's already updated pretty much everywhere.

Looking at major transit looking glasses that have a problem with it, I see that it's definitely making it all the way to the facility, and then poof. Anyway, that's just my guess. At this point I'll play my "I'm not a network engineer" card.

Oh by the way for anyone interested, it was exactly this. I wish I wrote out my long version of the message so I could sound smarter in hindsight, but when I was doing the testing, there were two IP addresses I saw for routers, one router was the one that worked. One was the one that didn't work and any time that one got picked, it'd cause the issue.

I mentioned this in my first message to them with the exact IP addresses of the routers, I guess it just took a while for them to go through their checklist and then get there eventually.

One of the routers wasn't set up to actually process anything for our announcements, the other one was.

But of course first they asked for MTR, add a long pause between all these, then they asked us why the MTR was cut off (because it wasn't cut off, it was the full MTR and that's where it cut off) and then why it was working to the switch (we never said it didn't work tot he switch, just that the announcements were having issues when going through those two routers.)

Right now we're going through and manually fixing a bunch of issues caused by SolusVM having no proper system to use subnets by IDs but rather it goes based off what IP address gets sorted arbitrarily based on maybe the first octet being greater than the other. Technically our fault for not following their logic exactly, but anyway this means the ones that got the wrong IP address won't work. So if yours doesn't work, it's wrong, and you'll get another IP change basically. It's a lot more annoying and complicated than that on our end though to correct it and I can't really explain it very well. Just imagine if we have to empty one out to fill the other so it's double the work and will take some time.

If you got denied first time then there is no reason to open more tickets, it will be all denied and you will even get more flags on your account. Looking at this behavior I assume you didn't read the fine print that it's only for people that behaved nicely in past - for example people that did not open tickets on nodes that are clearly listed in Network Status - like VirMach said (paraphrasing) if you didn't bother to read status you won't get extra/special treatment - you gonna wait like rest. You managed to open 3 tickets about this [while posting here] - I am like 89.89% sure you had moar tickets in the past and this is why you are no go / account flagged for not having 'extra/special' treatment :-)
