Bah humbug - what is so special about these deals and the mystery box is not mysterious?
After last years crap box (which I gave back), I certainly won't be purchasing - sorry - woosh.
But happy Hannukkah / Christmas

Title : Ryzen Special 512 $12.88 PER TWO YEARS
Dedscription : 384MB, 1 Core, 10GB SSD, 500GB BW, 1 IPv4
That one's the 512MB. Fixing, thanks for pointing out the typo.

Nothing special. Especially not today, it's exactly what's advertised.
Christmas sale ends today (it's 3AM~ PST right now) at about 5PM (PST.) So in about 12 hours.
Hannukah sale begins after that. Remember, for the Hannukah mystery menorah candle sale, there will be eight plans. One per day, until they stop selling (as I don't really know the demand after non-stop flash sales.) All plans will be 768MB RAM, 1 Core, 20GB SSD, 1.5TB Bandwidth, and 1 IPv4 for $18.88 per 2 years. Quantity of 50 per day.
At face value, if all you want is a 768MB special with no chicanery, then today's a better deal at $15.76
Otherwise wait until tomorrow and for $3.12 extra, you can potentially ruin your day.
Taking votes on what you guys want the first candle mystery to be... each number maps to one of them. I'm letting you guys pick the first day. Here's the list of potential mysteries, which I'll reveal the password to after the sale ends for transparency. This way I won't get blamed if we end up only having one day and you guys think I conspired to give you the worst mystery.
Disclaimer: this post does not necessarily confirm or deny that the 768MB plan tomorrow is anything but a 768MB plan.

Well perhaps me - I lucked out.
AutomaticCostly-VM 1 core, 384 MB RAM, 10 GB NVMe, 1 IPv4, 128 GB Transfer
Live in the UK and server is Phoenix, which is totally useless for me.

On a scale of FrankZ to Enigma Code, how difficult is the password to guess correctly?
I figured you guys would try to do that.
This year you get what you paid for no matter what so you guys shouldn't be worried about a lump of coal. Just don't expect anything more than what you're buying and you'll have a happy day.

I must say, the wording does seem much better and rather fool proof this time.
And the concept of saying THIS is what you get (minimum), but hinting you might be lucky (and get better), even though it probably comes down to the same concept in practical terms as last year, this will probably remove or lessen the psychological feeling of being a "loser" if you got the unlucky number gamble.
One question though, will we be able to pick the location this time?
Since I think the random locations also being part of it last time, increased the odds of disappointment vs elation.

I got this one last year as well.
Last year was totally my fault. I wrote the Mystery Box listing due to VirMach time constraints so it would be ready in time. VirMach gave me the details, but I worded the thread to be too much of a mystery and caused all the issues. Since it has become obvious to me over time that the written word is not one of my talents. I've stayed away from content writing in general, except for my own comments.
tldr: Rocks should be thrown at FrankZ instead of VirMach for last years Mystery Box issues.

Honestly my memory on it is so bad I don't even remember the year, but since you're taking the blame, then I feel okay defending you. In hindsight, I don't think much could have been done to avoid upsetting the people that got upset and there's no way wording it differently would have helped, and there's a good chance the way I would have ended up wording it would have been worse. If someone received one of the unlucky deals & were mad about it, then it wouldn't have mattered what was written.
I feel like everyone's focusing on those very specific negative emotions. If we did that then the old VirMach black friday flash deals were a disaster and hated by all, since all I could recall would be Cloudflare errors, dozens of people clicking on deals 10 milliseconds too late and being upset.
Actually I've found it, I'm going to read over it again now.
You said it's different than anything that has been done and to read carefully.
Random location was specifically mentioned.
Random specification was also mentioned.
This is just from the first couple sentences. Reading the rest, it's actually less of a mystery than how I remembered it being posted. The number of different variations are mentioned (25.) The exact range of specifications is mentioned. You provided the worst and best plans, quite literally showing that it could be a 128MB plan (in a random location.)
So yeah, my determination is that you were most definitely not at fault in any way, and that was a non-issue. If you were any more clear and made it any less of a mystery, it would have been listing every single plan, and people would have still ordered it, and still got upset if they got a 128MB in a location they didn't want. Even for the location it was written that the default location box is one of our primary locations that has the highest availability.
Alright anyway let's do it again. I'm expiring Christmas deals now. Last call!
Poll results are going to be used as of right now. I see "1" has the highest number of votes, so we're going with that. If we make it past day one, I'll just continue the same pattern (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) to keep it simple.
Comments
Both. That's what I am going to do. You can never have too much VirMach.

Yes, you'll be able to pick the location. And the service provisions after payment (to the advertised specs.)
Bingo !
