node timeout, looks like is datacentar or network issue there

  • Is NYCB027 node still locked?

  • The coupon code "RYZEN" only works on NVMe2G (as correctly stated on special offers page) but https://virmach.com/amd-ryzen-kvm-vps-with-nvme-ssd/ still says "Receive 40% off your first order, recurring discount, on 2GB or larger package." and tries to add it to NVMe4G and above too.

    PS: https://github.com/google/security-research/tree/master/pocs/cpus/zenbleed

  • Wanted to reinstall my OS on Node: FFME004
Can't reinstall OS: "Total Re-installs: 1 of 1 (0 free) - If you run out, please use the control panel directly."
I can't access Full VPS Control Panel. Reason: "Invalid vserverid or username"

What should I do? I didn't create a ticket, not sure if it's still full or not.

How long does the "I'll leave this in a queue for repair." for Missing LVM last for?
I was pretty sure you had scripts for that and this will be semi-automatic? if yes, can you kick the script on FFME02 because it seems it didn't run for last 6 days? :D
If there is no script and this shit is manual then I will wait, zenbleed > my cheap idle VM :D

  • ISO are getting resynced, if there's still issues tomorrow let me know, for any servers. They're also being updated to latest.

Auto script is still being worked on, it's not done yet. Well not actively being worked on, but it was some time ago (a week or two?)

FFME002, they're being tracked on tickets so whenever I get to them in the ticket queue. It's not too long but also not too short, just the right length for them to get stuck there for a week. Only like 3 to 5 people affected so it wasn't prioritized but also not that many so it's easy to manually fix. Just has to hit my queue, should actually maybe be done today. Maybe.

    Yeah, that's broken .... :-/

Try this, Support -> Open Ticket -> Contact Us -> Not Related To A Service

Carefully follow the on screen instructions from there to select your Department, Related Service, etc..... It'll at least let you generate a ticket. What happens from there I can't say.

    What's the problem btw?

The servers in Chicago with "QuadraNet" are facing a network outage. This is the third such outage, which we believe is caused solely by poor network management with this particular datacenter partner. We will be considering proceeding with migrations away from these servers/datacenter after networking is restored.

    Poor VirMach.

Seems that the Secaucus DC is having network issues again, not just VirMach, as my VMs with other providers there are also effected.

EDIT: Also down on SJCZ007, so something might be going on there in San Jose as well ?

Not sure about that. dedicated.com isn't showing any issues, any my servers with hosthatch which were impacted by the previous Secaucus fire are still going strong.

  • FrankZFrankZ ModeratorOG

Looks like you are correct as the status page for dedipath shows no network outage. https://status.dedicontrol.com/ Could it be just a coincidence that my VM at the other provider in Secaucus went down at the same time. I guess we will find out.

my LAX dedi with them just went down at the same time my NJ VPS with VirMach went down. I think it's an issue with DediPath and they just haven't updated status page.

  • Probably fire again, NY nodes are off again.

  • Looks like NYJ and LAX affected (Evocative DataCenters?): DediPath, EthernetServer, VirMach - again
All of my VPS from these providers and locations unreachable..

Same here, my SJCZ007 is also up and working. Neither VPS was restarted, so just a network issue.

  • I can confirm too. All of my services online again (from the previously mentioned providers and locations).
Looks like it was only a network outage, because all of my processes running on the VPS's and the uptimes not changed.

  • Is there any new progress in the HK data center, I have prepared 25-40 dollars for it :)

  • The "reset" button which was formerly the reboot button has been fully switched to the new actual reset button, which resets the boot order, unmounts ISO, and then attempts to reboot.

  • @Flying_Chinaman said:
Yo @VirMach with all due curiosity,

If people are getting their tickets just closed it's mostly these, which are actually most tickets now which is technically a good thing since it's better than having a bunch of serious tickets but at the same time nerve-inducing.

    • Customer with $5 a year special, has 6 tickets they opened for IPv6, a ticket they opened for "blocked port" where they were told it's not an issue with that but their operating system going into kernel panic from low memory, they made 3-4 more replies spamming same thing over and over, then made another ticket.
    • Customer with $12 a year special and $7 a year special, ignored posted outage, ignored troubleshooting information that's visible in the screenshot he provided us of the error, which explains the error.
    • Customer has $6 a year special, made a ticket with his own title that's unhelpful, then said his problem was that for over a month he has been seeing the troubleshooting information at the bottom which he thinks means he's getting all those errors even though his service is clearly functional.

We're probably going to have to end up doing something about these, we've always been okay with giving cheap specials and not raising prices but clearly when these people are just spamming in tickets like this on limited support packages they're not taking that part of it very seriously.

By the way those examples above were all in a row as in not cherry picked, I have like 30 more I could go over but you get the point.

    @cybertech said:
i thought mainland china has bad ping to HK, and tokyo is best overall?

From my testing yes, but I also decided doing Singapore or HK means lots of orders from unhappy people that would then create tickets and chargebacks and write bad reviews if the connection isn't as good as from Tokyo to that region so it's effectively pointless to pursue.

  • @Flying_Chinaman said: wa'z your daily routine, jus' fix the broken racks, close most of the tickets and call it a day?

I tried answering this a few times without being negative and it's not possible, the simplest way to say it is obviously most my day isn't a routine, it's whatever work ends up being created for me that day by a third party and then ... tickets.

  • @foitin said: (at least in the long term)

Since we are benchmarking WordPress these days on AMD Ryzen 7000 series, most notably 7950X.....because it has fastest single core performance which is best suitable for WordPress/PHP as it is single threaded....so here is my benchmark on AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 4 core 8GB VPS.

    SUPERB PERFORMANCE!

And this is just $24/year =)

    This is nginx + php-fpm.

First I ran benchmark on stock and it gave 8.2. Then I tuned mariadb according to what that benchmark said and it went to 9.5.
nginx and rest of the settings are stock.

Tried same benchmark on Ryzen 9 3900X, 1 core 1GB and it failed on last test of "network" as mariadb process was killed by systemd.

Jul 30 12:46:11 DualHandy-VM systemd[1]: mariadb.service: A process of this unit has been killed by the OOM killer.
    Jul 30 12:46:11 DualHandy-VM systemd[1]: mariadb.service: Main process exited, code=killed, status=9/KILL
    Jul 30 12:46:11 DualHandy-VM systemd[1]: mariadb.service: Failed with result 'oom-kill'.
    Jul 30 12:46:11 DualHandy-VM systemd[1]: mariadb.service: Consumed 44.574s CPU time.

  • Tried again. Ryzen 9 3900X, 1 core 1GB WordPress benchmark. Again superb performance considering it is 3000 series and VPS cost is $1 or $1.1 per year :p

No wonder VirMach is in loss haha!
