(Quote) Maybe these threads should also be hidden from people with less than +25 karma? Also it seems like the new users are asked why they want to join twice...

"Karma Flair: off" has no effect in SeaMonkey browser.

Do you know the way to San Jose @VirMach ?

(Quote) LAXA007 network has been flapping since September 6th. Seems like roughly between one and five 20-40 minute outages a day. It stopped October 8-10 then resumed on the 11th and continues today: (Image)

Did I miss the explanation for why LAXA007 network has been bouncing like a member of the twerk team for the past couple of months?

Anybody want to offer some Virmach refugee deals?

SJCZC005B is missing from the status page (and also down).

If your LA appears to be online: Don't reboot it.

You may need to compile ircII yourself to get the latest security fixes. I found this was very easy to do under Debian, however (even making my own .deb). This is a great news blog for monitoring IRC developments: https://www.ilmarilauhakangas.fi/

1984.hosting is another good quality free DNS provider. But maybe you can offer things (some of) the others don't like dynamic DNS?

Since @SMARTHOST is feeling so talkative now: Maybe they can explain the leak of customer email addresses in late September: https://lowendspirit.com/discussion/comment/151050/#Comment_151050 Was this a third incident? Also: Is there actually a…

sav.com is dropping .com registrations to $7.95 starting Jan. 1st. Sounds like a permanent change.

(Quote) It is a $1/mo. service only available to be billed one month at a time with a website that is fairly self-explanatory. I think expecting any amount of pre-sales hand holding for such a low end service is perhaps a bit much. As far as I…

(Quote) Yes. (Quote) It actually does, I just haven't bothered to look at it: (Image) (Quote) Yes, in addition to the above statistics (which include the email addresses in the pie charts underneath them) they also have a log of all the ema…

Been using it since March and had no complaints. I'm not aware of any way to monitor statistics or see bounced messages (outside of looking at my logs) but I went from being entirely blocked by gmail and outlook (no matter how many green check…

(Quote) Finally back online just two days after I celebrated the one month anniversary of this outage.

(Quote) Well the Network Status page doesn't say anything about LAXA007 still needing IP assignment work, so for some reason that gave me the impression that it was "done" and this would be considered an "unknown issue". (I…

(Quote) Same problem here (stuck with the old dead IP). I opened a ticket 21 hours ago.

(Quote) Yes. (Quote) Truth.

(Quote) Got it! I made it to a place where I could VNC in and it appears the IP (which is still the IP from DENZ001) is not being routed. So is this expected and we are now just waiting for new IP addresses?
-
(Quote) I didn't pay attention to that message because there shouldn't be an ISO mounted. I have booted and rebooted this VM in the past (since I first set it up) and there has never been any issue with an ISO (either because one wasn…

(Quote) Done and no change. Ticket submitted. Thanks

(Quote) MY MISTAKE! It was originally at DENZ001 not SJC. Still curious if there will be a backup restore coming.
-
So I guess my SJCZ005 was moved to LAXA007 however currently shows up with no OS installed. Should I be expecting a backup to load in here?

(Quote) Agreed. While it is very on brand for Google to axe products, I always figured this one would be immune to that -- the kind of business they would stay in for the optics and prestige if nothing else.

(Quote) Gandi was recently purchased by private equity and raised their prices. UK customers were also told that the "free" email addresses previous bundled with domain registration will now be a separate fee. This is the second time Gan…

Anyone here use netim.com for domains? Thinking about moving from gandi.net to them.

(Quote) This part is a much bigger deal and is going to cause a lot of problems. Anyone with lists of Imgur URL's (which you can even export from your browser history, if you keep it) should submit them here and anyone who wants to lend their …

Found SJCZ005B VPS powered down again this morning (was able to boot it, though). Is this going to be a weekly/bi-weekly thing?
-
(Quote) So, uh I'm not a benchmark guy but is running yabs once supposed to take my SJCZ005B offline before completion?
-
(Quote) Agreed. A blog roll is fine for the all the gory details, but an at-a-glance dashboard with red and green lights would be great (and virmach.watch is just sitting there...)

Reminds me of when the DeCSS source code suddenly started being quarantined by Windows anti-virus last year.

(Quote) First thing in the thread is "no refunds" so I would just skip to the second part.

(Quote) So is there no way to set this at all? Or do we manually submit a ticket?

@VirMach This rDNS button doesn't seem to work: (Image) Tried it twice (May 4th and May 17) for an IP on SJCZ005 and while a ticket was automatically generated and closed each time, no change was made to the rDNS of the IP.
