Text questions are easy for LLM to answer. Using image will make the LLM work harder, but not much difference...

What about solving a maze that requires mouse control?

    Not very accessible.

Honestly, it might just as easily be people who can't think what to fill in (and possibly don't have English as a first language) using the tools their used to, to fill in the boxes. Makes the questions mildly pointless, but I'm not sure it's a strong negative signal.

  • @AnthonySmith maybe ask the user to make an essay in their original language?

Cloudflare and Google and other popular big name anti bot also has a lot of people working on the bypass. Best is to create your own simple captcha and use that. Ever since I changed from Google recaptcha to my own version of captcha, bots abusing my contact form dropped from 2 to 3 per day to 1 in the last 2 years.

Simple, everyone who answers each question with perfect sentences including correct grammar and style will be a bot/llm.

Humans don't do that, see pure voltage above, perfect example, he didn't finish the last answer with a dot :-)

Yeah, I guess its fine to just fall back on the human captcha, if obvious llm, we will learn to spot it and crowd-ban them.

I want to understand what the world of virtual private servers and the providers around them are. I'd ideally like to set up a service for my own hobby projects, but also understanding how that works for scaling up my own projects that may turn into something bigger and more commercial, trying to find a need and balance, and also primarily focus on solving issues and having servers to run solutions for those issues.

I’m a long-time tinkerer, self-taught sysadmin, and chronic budget-scraper who has been running servers on hardware that most people would recycle. My journey started in the dark ages of 2008 with a 256MB VPS that I used to host a WordPress blog, an IRC bouncer, and a private Mumble server—all at the same time, because why not? Since then, I’ve developed a deep, almost pathological love for squeezing every last drop of performance out of obsolete or underpowered machines. I’ve run Gentoo on a Raspberry Pi 1, turned an old Thin Client into a home automation hub, and once kept a production web app alive for three years on a single-core OpenVZ container with 512MB of RAM and zero swap.

I want to join LowEndSpirit because this is the only corner of the internet where people truly understand that "low-end" isn't an insult—it's a challenge. It's a philosophy. In a world of cloud giants and auto-scaling Kubernetes clusters, the art of doing more with less is being lost. But here, I see folks who still compile their own kernels, who know the difference between OpenVZ 6 and 7, who can tune MySQL to run in 64MB, and who celebrate a $15/year VPS like it's a treasure. I want to be part of that tribe.

How did you discover lowendspirit and do you have any extra information you would like to add e.g. interests, hobbies etc.

It was actually a classic case of "falling down the rabbit hole." A few years ago, I was hunting for the absolute cheapest VPS I could find to host a tiny status page and a personal RSS aggregator. I stumbled upon LowEndTalk (LET) and started reading through the offers and the legendary "Showoff" threads. Someone there casually mentioned LowEndSpirit as the "more chilled-out, community-first cousin" of LET—less about deal-hunting and more about the craft of low-end hosting. That piqued my curiosity immediately.

Answer this: You see that it's a really nice sunny day, it has been weeks since you felt the warm sun on your skin, you step outside and see your car needs to be washed, what a perfect day for it, the car wash is actually only 100 meters away from where you live, its such a lovley day, do you walk or drive to the car wash?

Such a peasant question to ask. Washing and maintaining the automobile, along with other such menial obligations, is of course delegated to the servants. I have far more pressing matters to attend to, such as philosophy, metaphysics, and the occasional contemplation of my own intellectual superiority.

That said, should the weather be sufficiently agreeable, I may permit myself the luxury of having a picnic by the river banks. Not because sunlight is beneficial to the complexion, but because my family owns the entire river and all property along the banks.

Please introduce yourself and tell us why you want to join this forum?

I'm Mauri, a sole trader from northern Germany. I run MRMedia, a very small hosting
business I started this summer, KVM VPS on a rented Xeon Gold 6138, a rented EPYC 7351P for the cheaper line, and game servers on the side.

I do all of it myself: Proxmox, Virtualizor, WHMCS, the network (VyOS, GRE tunnels,
anti-spoofing filters), and a custom panel because I didn't want to hand customers a raw
Pterodactyl and or the weird Virtualizor Panel . So most of what gets discussed here is either something I'm currently fighting with or something I've just fixed badly.

I want to join for two reasons, and I'd rather state the second one plainly: I read LEB
and LET regularly and would like to be part of the discussion, and at some point I'd
like to post an offer here as a provider. I have zero paying customers so far, so I'm
not here to flood anyone. I'm here to learn how people evaluate small hosts, and to be
somewhere I can be held to what I claim.

How did you discover lowendspirit and do you have any extra information you would like to add e.g. interests, hobbies etc.

Google :D I was reading up on how small providers introduce themselves properly, and LES came up as the place with the fewest gatekeeping hoops and the most direct feedback.

Outside the business, my hobby is basically the same thing without invoices: a homelab
that has grown well past reason, Proxmox cluster, NetBird mesh,
Home Assistant, everything that makes me Happy an my Wife angry. I enjoy the networking side most, which is also where I've made the most expensive mistakes.

Pedestrian traversal across the 100-meter terrestrial vector optimizes epidermal heliotherapy, yet precipitates a catastrophic ontological error: your detritus-encrusted automotive chassis remains sequestered at the domicile while your unshielded hominid anatomy undergoes involuntary tri-color surfactant bombardment and mechanized abrasive exfoliation.

Hello everyone!I am thrilled to join the LowEndSpirit community. I've been following the budget hosting scene for a while and love the core philosophy of doing more with less resource. My goal here is to learn from experienced members, find great VPS deals, and share my own hosting notes. I'm looking forward to diving into discussions about low-resource optimization, self-hosting, and server benchmarks. Glad to be on board!
