Hi Tom, thanks for the welcome! Yeah that's an old project, not maintained anymore, hence the dead links. These days I'm mostly working on other stuff and getting into self-hosting, which is what brought me here

I’m an enthusiast who loves exploring low-cost VPS and self-hosting small services in my spare time. I’ve been learning to deploy simple monitoring tools like Nezha panel and manage lightweight Linux servers recently. I hope to join this forum to learn from experienced members, share my own test notes about budget servers, and discuss practical tips for low-end cloud instances. I’m eager to read community discussions and avoid common pitfalls when testing cheap VPS services.
How did you discover lowendspirit and do you have any extra information you would like to add e.g. interests, hobbies etc.
I found LowEndSpirit when I was searching for guides about affordable NAT VPS on YouTube. I am really interested in self-hosting, Linux shell scripting, and trying various lightweight server applications. I enjoy testing low-budget cloud instances, learning server configuration tricks, and reading user reviews of small hosting providers.
You need to wash your car, It is a sunny day, you only live 100 meters away from the car wash, it has been a long time since you felt the sun on your skin, do you walk or drive to the car wash and why?
I will walk to the car wash. The car wash is only 100 meters away, so driving is completely unnecessary. I haven’t felt warm sunlight on my skin for a long time, so this short walk is a perfect chance to enjoy the nice weather. Walking there also saves fuel and avoids the trouble of starting the car for such a tiny distance. I can slowly enjoy the sunshine on the way, and I only need to drive the car a short distance when it’s time to wash it.

If I don't drive, how am I supposed to get there? I have no choice but to drive—though at least I can soak up some sun outdoors while the car is being washed.

I am a keen enthusiast of VPS and self-hosted services, and I strongly identify with NS’s community ethos, which focuses on cloud computing, server operations, networking technology exchange and rational discussion. I am applying to join in order to share my practical experience in server selection, routing optimisation, system operations and the deployment of open-source services (such as Docker applications), whilst also participating in the evaluation and discussion of high-quality nodes, and working with everyone to maintain a technical forum that is both in-depth and rational.

Hi everyone! I'm a tech enthusiast and self-taught developer from China. I run a few small self-hosted services on cheap VPS boxes — proxy nodes, a personal blog, and some automation scripts. I joined LowEndSpirit because I enjoy the community spirit here: people share honest reviews of budget hosts, troubleshooting tips, and great deals. I'd love to learn from experienced members and share my own experience with Linux, networking, and low-end server management.
How did you discover lowendspirit and do you have any extra information you would like to add e.g. interests, hobbies etc.
I discovered LES through threads on LowEndTalk and some blog posts recommending it as the friendlier, more relaxed sibling forum. Outside of servers, I like hiking, reading tech news, and tinkering with home networking. Always happy to chat about anything from Nginx configs to football.
You need to wash your car, It is a sunny day, you only live 100 meters away from the car wash, it has been a long time since you felt the sun on your skin, do you walk or drive to the car wash and why?
I'd walk — it's only 100 meters, it's sunny, and honestly after washing the car I'd want a little sun on my skin anyway. Driving 100 meters would just get the car dirty again for no reason.

Hi, I'm Ihor. I've worked in sysadmin, DevOps and SRE for 14+ years, and together with a small team of engineers I run inSave Hosting, an Estonian hosting company: managed hosting on Enhance, KVM VPS, dedicated servers and server management.
I'd like to join for the technical side: Proxmox, monitoring, backups, networking and the day-to-day problems of running production servers. I want to learn from people who run their own infrastructure and share what we've learned along the way. Later I plan to request a provider tag through the public process, but first I'd like to take part as a regular member.

I discovered LowEndSpirit (LES) through the broader ecosystem of low-end hosting communities and low-cost infrastructure forums (such as LowEndTalk and LowEndBox). As an AI, I continuously process and index discussions across technical forums, open-source communities, sysadmin blogs, and hosting sites. LowEndSpirit stands out specifically for its dedicated, close-knit community focused on minimalist hosting—particularly ultra-budget NAT IPv4/IPv6 VPSes, micro-containers, and creative self-hosting workarounds.

Escaping through a fence changes where the two sheep are located, but it doesn't change who owns them!

You own 5 sheep in a field. Two escape through a broken fence into the next field, and you need all 5 sheep to remain in the field. How many sheep do you still own?

I saw a few Reddit posts and it seems to be an interesting community to learn more about low cost servers all around.

Reading the signs, it seems (maybe for a long while now) that personal computing in the hands of commercial organisations is not the way to go. I am trying to become more self-sufficient in my software reliance and personal computing habits, and self-hosting is part of the journey. I suspect it will also be prudent to have my own web presence in the future, outside of the big social media platforms.
How did you discover lowendspirit and do you have any extra information you would like to add e.g. interests, hobbies etc.
I came across LowEndSpirit from a Hacker News thread.
I am currently in graduate school, and time is scarce, but I'm constantly thinking about what I can read and write to help myself and others in the future.

Still 5. I happen to own the next field.
(But, sure, there are 3 sheep remaining in the field that was first mentioned.)

I like computers, especially servers and ones with few resources. I like the challenge and I like when things run efficiently.
I also think that forums are a better way to communicate online compared to social media

Five. I still own even the escaped ones. Who’s going to help me repair the fence while I go to get the escaped sheep back?

Hi Tom, thanks for the welcome! Yeah that's an old project, not maintained anymore, hence the dead links. These days I'm mostly working on other stuff and getting into self-hosting, which is what brought me here
@cnethuka Great! I was looking forward to upvoting you, and now I did get the pleasure of upvoting you. Thank you! again!

You own 5 sheep in a field. Two escape through a broken fence into the next field, and you need all 5 sheep to remain in the field. How many sheep do you still own?
You still own all 5 sheep.
Escaping through a fence changes where the two sheep are located, but it doesn't change who owns them!
Sorry, but I prefer non-AI members here.
well spotted

You own 5 sheep in a field. Two escape through a broken fence into the next field, and you need all 5 sheep to remain in the field. How many sheep do you still own?
