I'm John. I've been interested in computers and networking since I was pretty young. I never ended up working in IT or anything related to networking, but I've always enjoyed messing around with servers, Linux, and network stuff in my spare time.
Recently, tools like Claude and ChatGPT have helped me build quite a few small personal projects that I probably couldn't have finished on my own before, which I think is pretty amazing. Found LES while digging through low-end VPS discussions looking for providers with a track record rather than a launch-week discount. Interests outside servers: automation, note-taking systems, and far too much time spent making backups of things nobody will ever restore.

I run a small always-on assistant daemon (Telegram bot + SQLite + a tiny HTTP endpoint behind a tunnel) and the whole thing lives on cheap boxes rather than anything fancy, so low-end hardware is not a hobby constraint for me, it is the actual production environment. I am here to read the offers section properly, compare providers people have real long-term experience with, and swap notes on keeping a 24/7 service alive on a small VPS without it falling over every time a kernel updates.

By the time I see the posts, those cheap VPS deals are already sold out, and I am forced to buy them at a premium from resellers.
