Just click 'Active' and it will load active only next time you click "Services".

Yeah we used to have to tell that to people a few times a week but it sucks WHMCS just resets it constantly.

    $82.08 per 2 years or $51.30 per year. Oh wait that's V3

$78 per 2 years or $48.75 per year.

Probably resets when you touch the sidebar :3

Anyway I think it mostly works lately - as I am logging in everyday and I don't recall I had to click Active too many times. I am more pissed that my session can't stand longer than a day and I need to 2FA everyday :D

  • A typical standard server of

    • 1GB RAM
    • 1 CPU
    • 25GB NVMe
    • 1TB Bandwidth
    • 1 IPv4

    is now $25.5/2yr

I won't say it is insane, but it is decent enough.

With a little bit of tweak for RAM-heavy use cases:

    • 4GB RAM
    • 1 CPU
    • 5GB NVMe
    • 100GB Bandwidth
    • 1 IPv4

for only $36.7/2yr, which translates to $1.53/m for 4GB RAM, not bad. I just feel the bandwidth might be a bit undervalued, probably need to x2 or x3 for JP.

Yeah that was the $7 bandwidth-heavy. Made it $2 mostly for @fluttershy

I'm not going to say what we get with xTom but Psychz quoted us $2000 per 1Gbps (or maybe $2200?)

So depending on how you count it that'd potentially be $8 per 1TB (per month not per 2 years.) Therefore to not undervalue it and assuming it'd be used that's $192 instead of $2

$2200 for 324TB, the cost is $6.79/TB/m, that's a loss for you, right?

95th so technically, I mean... again we're assuming Psychz at which point we'd have no servers but something like 250TB then depending on your minimum and maximums and so on. But if it's in+out we technically could up to double it.

Except Tokyo is extremely spikey and way higher during the day so probably undouble it.

(edit) Actually here I got better numbers for you if you're interested. About 500TB both in and out (so it could be 300TB in, 200TB out for example) ends up adding up to about 2Gbps 95th. So assuming it's 200TB out for example, that means 2Gbps is not 640TB but instead 200TB.

So assuming $4000 that's $20 per 1TB per month or $240 per 1TB per year. But not everyone uses their entire allocation. So 120x higher than our formula.

also there is no reason to add 3$, so I would need to add like 20$... and that would make me vulnerable to BF deals!

I've been VirMach'd again today. Added like 30$ so I could pay that 3$ transfer fee aaaaaand the server I decided I want to move have a free Redeploy button. I should have checked earlier!

@FAT32 last 24 hours has been fairly quiet. I'm assuming this may be the new norm since abusers suspended.

1.6G peak but 0.3G when quiet. Absolutely insane, no other region looks like it.

Actually technically 1.9G peak if you count the very tippy top.

  • Last month was about 2Gbps 95th

    2.6Gbps peak
    1.13Gbps average

So even though average 1.13Gbps, the 95th ends up being 2Gbps.

Oh, I should probably ask before clicking this Redeploy button as description is scary.

@VirMach is Redeploy button click to safe (from billing point of view) if my service is SSD1G, but I have a shit ton of coupons and addons on this? Does it take all those things into consideration when recreating on Ryzen [except it is Ryzen already]?

No we're not. Our panel is completely built in-house from scratch and uses lvmthin (SVM does not support it, and hence does not support snapshots) and openvswitch (which again, solusvm does not support) instead of ebtables. Pretty much every provider you will find on SVM today still hasn't figured out how to drop arp/ndp traffic (run tcpdump on your VPS to check) and SVM itself makes no effort to fix these things that make a huge difference at the end.

We did use a heavily modified SVM for quite a while, but hacking around the things it does wrongly just got too annoying. Our customers want snapshots, private VLANs, etc.

Yep, I mentioned this was before your panel refresh (and I think you had private networking back then). I know the new panel is all in house, and for what it's worth it's probably my favorite VM host panel I've used :) Unless you're saying that pre-refresh you didn't use SVM and that you never offered private networking through it, in which case I humbly apologize.

Is it possible to do some kind of proportional setup fee? I feel like $10 for the lower plans is pretty fair, but it really feels like you should be charging more than $10 for some of the top plans, 20tb of bw in tokyo has the potential to go really badly for you I would think. The maxed out plan looks like an absolute beast and a good value IMO, I think it was 2019 you did a custom plan for me that was 8 cpu 8gb ram 100gb disk and 3tb bw 2 IPs for $111.11. I kinda regret cancelling that one, it was in buffalo and the latency just didn't work for me in the long run, but with ryzen migrations and paid moves I would've made a lot more use out of it.

  • Adding fine-print: for Tokyo you'd purchase more than 6TB at your own risk. Worst case scenario we notify you (and obviously allow some time for you to adjust) and lower it to 6TB, recalculate price, and refund you amount owed either to original payment method if available or store credit.

I think this should be enough to basically not have to add any validation or additional price changes for Tokyo or make it unavailable in Tokyo for the customizer.

Not without some hacky things going on that would most definitely be abused and then we'll have another "VirMach at fault for not properly restricting people going in and modifying requests in a way where they weren't meant to be done" scenario.

You'd think it'd be a default feature though, it's not. You did read my mind on the 20TB in Tokyo.

If we decide to allow 8 CPU, using V6 pricing, it'd be $85.

But the fact that it's $85 and not $111.11 makes me want to say we probably should restrict CPU to 6.

In which case it'd be $75.

Okay not bad at all, it could be argued in like 5 different ways why it should be higher or lower but I feel like given the timing, the way we did Tokyo previously, inflation, dropping hardware prices, increasing everything else prices, the fact that it is or isn't close BF, the formula works.

Yeah that's a steal considering I wanted 8 CPU based on the old intel hardware being slow, I think a cap of 6 is more than reasonable. I'll definitely be picking something up on the higher end when you put this up.

No guaranteed Gen4 but Gen4 is overrated anyway IMO. Just means higher chance of the board or something else crapping out. I'm going to count 2c/4t Epyc as just 3 logical core Ryzen.

    $99/2YR

Oh I'm dumb it's literally already Ryzen, sec.

    $107/2YR
    $66.88/1YR

Then assuming you want Gen4 you'd have to just pick location with highest likelihood.

Maybe we can actually do it as an upsell, to let people get on Gen4, 5000 series, or 10Gbps node.

Would you guys want one-time setup fee that's higher or recurring lower for that? Name your price for guaranteed to be on one of those nodes. Should we charge extra for 2Gbps burst option since servers will all eventually be 2Gbps? Otherwise they'd be capped 1Gbps default.

Should we add options to get dedicated cores? For that we can probably only offer it on the preconfigured ones. Actually for that one it'd be lousy value. Lowest I could realistically get it would be astronomically high.

How much money can I make if I just mine this and do no special? I have 20 nodes ready to be destroyed.

I have no idea how this flux works, except it's crypto :D and I recall @Advin had some "stories" about that - people bought shared VPSes, disk speeds dropped below threshold, they weren't getting crypto anymore, went for chargebacks. He setup some special, dedicated nodes to this. Maybe most people already learned that running this on VPS is a bad idea.

    Hell yeah!

Haven't bought a single service in VirMach Great Ryzen 2022 - 2023 Flash Sale.

I was bored so decided to make something fun (It is working but too lazy to build it + VirMach still tweaking the formula)

@VirMach let me know if you want something like this on your order page

  • Very nice, I can make $138 a year.

That'd be sick. I actually worked on a project like this a long long long long long long time ago for some other hosting site. This was maybe back in 2013.

The way I did it was just do it completely independently from WHMCS and then have it map to the config options, and go to checkout since they wanted it on their website directly. Got a 4 out of 5 star review for it went along the lines of "nice, exactly what we wanted." So yeah we could just do it that way basically and then if someone wants they could just visit the ugly confusing WHMCS version.

It'd just need to go in minimum 128MB steps for the RAM, I think, for it to be "nice" in terms of pricing. Let me mess around with it, I want it to be perfect 22 / 33 / 55 / 88 pricing for the preconfigured plans and 1:1

(edit) looks like it'll have to go in 256MB steps which means no 384MB plan. Oh well, I'm willing to live with that.

    @FAT32

    • Memory in 256MB increments, minimum 256MB. Max 8GB
    • Disk in 1GB increments, minimum 5GB (but we could also leave it at 1.) Max 500GB
    • CPU in 1 increments, max 6.
    • Bandwidth in 128GB increments, max 20480GB
    • IPv4 in 1 increment, max 4

    256MB RAM = $1.25
    1GB Disk = $0.01
    1 CPU = $8
    128GB BW = $0.25
    1 IPv4 = $8

I'd definitely pay a one-time setup to get on a 10Gbps node, I'd prefer the one-time vs extra on the recurring but I'd be willing to pay a small amount more recurring instead if that's what you needed to do to make it happen.

Do you mean 1GB = $0.1? If not I can get 500GB NVMe for just $5/2yr...

Unit pricing stays the same yes.

Oh right I forgot WHMCS+SVM don't even support custom quantity multipliers. It literally has to go based off MB and the lowest we can change for 1MB is $0.01 which is double price. Looks like we have to just double the prices and then have 50% off code. I can modify the code however you end up doing it or give me a few minutes to figure this other part out.

Decent amount but basically anyone who runs these on a normal VPS is being abusive.

@FAT32 okay RAM just has to go by MB, disk by GB, BW by GB. If we want to just pass a number like 1024 = 1GB RAM, 1024 =1TB BW, 50 = 50GB

Can still do increments do whatever as long as it can pass along that number. And I guess we're just doing 50% off

Everything might end up costing a little more in any case, oh well. The WHMCS tax.

    • $0.1/GB Disk
    • $0.01/GB BW

Our doubled pricing which you'll halve are:

    $0.01 per 1MB RAM ($0.005 actual)
    $0.02 per 1GB Disk ($0.01 actual)
    $16 per CPU ($8 actual)
$0.01 per 1GB Bandwidth ($5.12 per 1TB actual or $0.50 per 100GB, and so on, which is a mandatory price increase.)
    $16 per IP ($8 actual)
